Hi there, I’m new to Blender and also new to these forums, so please excuse me if I posted this in the wrong place.
I’ve been craving to do 3d modeling for a long time (I’m a game freak), and recently I heard about Blender. From what I’ve seen it capable of doing and what people say, its a much better choice than going for the programs like 3DS Max.
I’ve been looking at tutorials, trying to find ones that are great for getting me into how to work everything. After a few bad ones, I found the Blender Wiki tutorial collection, and I’ve done a few of them. Some of them are amazing and easy to follow, while others are kinda hard to follow and dont go into enough detail (I’m a visual learner, some tutorials are just pure text). Thus, I kinda get stuck and discouraged from going on. I really want to learn Blender, but I really need a good set of tutorials.
So I ask on this tutorial forum, what is your personal pick for a great tutorial for beginners? I’m not looking for someone saying “go here, they have good tutorials”, I’m looking for someone to show me “here, this tutorial/set is what I believe to be perfect for getting someone started”. I’ve looked at tons of tutorials, and I just can’t go through every one of them seeing how good they are, thats why I ask the pros here what they think is the best.

This link shows some basics and a couple games, very simple and VISUAL.
If I were to recommend one tutorial to get you started, it would be Introduction to Character Animation, the first tutorial mentioned by ititrx. Even if you’re not interested in animation, it gives you the basics for finding your way around blender, modeling, dealing with materials, rigging and so on.
Once you’ve worked through that one, you’ll know enough to make up your own mind about the others.
