2025 was a bit of a rough year for me, as I’m sure it has been for many of you as well. I almost didn’t have the energy to get this challenge together. When December 1st came and went, I debated just letting it slide this year. But as I was reviewing some of the amazing 10 cubes art from years past, I decided that I had to do something, so here it is!
If you are tired and worn out, just take a little bit of time and do one prompt. Any prompt at all. You can just make one up too… Limit yourself to 10 cubes and make an art. You will feel better when you are done, You might even want to make another art.
The rules (which you are of course free to bend to your will):
10 cubes only (cuboids technically, the sides don’t all need to be the same size)
Scale them however you like
Rotate them however you’d like
No edit mode
Keep materials and lighting simple, modeling and composition are the goal
Ground plane is free, if you need that
Post your submissions in your own topic, let’s fill up finished art with these (UPDATE: use tag 10-cubes-25 for your submissions
The only rule that matters:
Make Art, Have Fun.
If you need context or inspiration, check out some of the previous years 10 cubes challenges:
Sure, if the output is still 10 cuboids. If you’re warping or distorting them or adding geometry, it’s not a true 10 cubes piece. But as long as you are making art and having fun, you’re in compliance of the only rule that matters.
That’s awesome, take a look through the past years challenges to get a good sense of the possibilities. It’s amazing how much people do with so little.
Cool, I was waiting for this! Glad you could make it. Gonna fire up my cubic mind and see if I can do all prompts. Or see where it ends up anyway. Cheers @SterlingRoth!
