2d Cutout Style Tutorials *UPDATED* 7/07/08

can anyone recomend a good totorial for facial rigging in cuttout animation?

Hello Friends, I’ve just added a new tutorial. It covers the basics of replacement animation in blender. It’s just a first draft for now. I suspect as I get more feedback from people on it I will probably update and add more to this tutorial. Anyway check the first post in the thread for the link and don’t forget to grab the replacer.zip file. It contains the python script + the .blend file you’ll need for this tutorial.

Hey jazzdalek,
great tutorial, thanks for sharing your knowledge! I’ll test it as soon as possible

Thank you!

thanks for the tutorial, it beats the layer animation method i was using.

This is absolutely brilliant ! Thanks very much,

how many times can you use the replacer script in a single blend file? say if i want to animate the eyes and mouth with 2 different handles.

truly deeply madly awesome jazzdalek !!! i use toonboom to create this kind of animation. but i have to expect more from blender right now, heheheheh. thx a lot.
by the way, is there anyway i can watch your videos without having to stare this “Created using Wink” for a long time ? since i use dial up and mandriva. it takes too much time for me to open the whole movies. i just wish to watch it offlined :frowning:

hey! thanks for the nice comments

rexprime: yeah I used the layer swapping on a job once…ouch!
to answer your other question. I haven’t actually tried using it on multiple
objects. But I don’t see why it wouldn’t work… it’s all about the naming scheme you setup when you start. the script just looks for objects with a similar naming pattern to the one it’s attached to.

johantri: yeah I work with toonboom/flash/anime studio for work. But I like blender better . With some work I think blender could be a major competitor to programs like flash. if that blender web browser plugin was working a little better… and we made a nice interface for doing replacement animation…
anyway. to answer your question about downloading .swf files. I’ve posted the direct links
to the .swf files below. you can just right click “save link as…” or something like that… (don’t know what browser your using). hope this helps

Is it possible for someone to repost the tutorials. I can’t get the links to work

thanks

links are down at the moment while I move to a different server.

I hope this comes back soon, I lost the files when I moved and now I am without this awesome resource. Is there any chance we could get the files on a temporary host until the issues with the official server is resolved?

Dear these links are not working?

I would be willing to host them until your site is back up! PM me for an email addy or upload location.

Edit: Anyone have the swfs that they can post until jazzdalek’s site is back?

It seems like the links are still unavailable. Are there new links? This sounds very interesting.

John

The whole sites down not just the links, if you just try going to the domain you’ll see.
