3dmagix..blender is that you ?

Wow, and no e-mail address to be found… I wonder if people are actually falling for this.

I’ve particularly enjoyed the Blender 2.0 screen shot (feature5) in the middle of 2.3+ ones
Even the Blender 8 years old interface looks fresh enough to attract possible buyers.

I can see that Cody London looks a lot like David Beckham lol.

Aquafina has been for years

If you look through his first video, about 15 seconds in, it shows the blender logo in his browser.

for his 3rd video he has Big Buck Bunny, complete with opening titles “The Peach Open Movie Presents”

The 7th Video is the most unrelated to its associated text

I wonder what the consumer will think when they blender Splash screen pops up? or when it says blender 2.49 at the top?

And did it actually take this guy many years, and tens of thousands of dollars to compile blender?

That bird was made in blender by Venom7X

Open support tickets on his web site to let him know how you feel.

Once more testimonials come rolling in, so I’m going to raise the price accordingly. First I’ll bump it up to $197.00…then to $397.00 and more…and it’ll still be a bargain for what you’re getting.

I can barely handle all these great deals, soon I might just need to buy it :p… The more I read it, the more it sickens me.

When I visited the website I recognized the name right off. A guy by the same name tried to sell of content from another community I’m part of “Trainz Railroad Sim”. Luckily the site was taken down, but the same name still exists.

Cheerio,
John

Right, I dropped the guy a note (ticket # 8) asking to take down the blender logo and artwork.

Nothing else we can do besides hoping not to many people fall into this “scam”.

after a quick bit of snooping, I came up with this page :

http://ezinearticles.com/?cat=Arts-and-Entertainment:Animation

it seems ‘Cody’ is trying to establish himself elsewhere and gain some credibility with any potential customers.

Oh dear does getting Blender for free mean that we are in breach of HIS copyright(s)?

Cody thank you for making such a wonderful program. Too bad so much internet piracy is biting into your sales though.

Hopefully Ton won’t be arrested before we have a chance to get our hands on 2.5

This kinds of stupids made me really really piss off… i’ve sent him a ticket too.

Disagree, even if we don’t get a copy of what he is selling to prove whether or not he is GPL compliant, he definately has violated the copyrights of many artists on his front page. If for nothing else, that is why he should be taken down.

Ya, I found that too. I reported the ‘Author’ Cody with the websites ‘Report Author’ link.

I say we hound this twerp into oblivion.

Seriously doubt Cody Landon even exists. The guy is likely english. How would you know such a thing? Have a look (and listen) at this video here:

and here:

and various other video sites.
In fact, just google 3dmagix and there’s plenty to see. People might want to drop a few comments here and there.

The ‘special message’ on the main page is probably just some random actor who never got paid and hosting used in the US just to make it look like it’s from there. If he was going to commit fraud he’d hardly put his own name up there, would he?

Kind of reminds you of the Limbo of the Lost adventure game debacle. If you haven’t heard about that one, they basically created a new adventure game by plagorising other games for graphics, etc. and sold it via a legit publisher (see http://kotaku.com/5015674/cheeky-pc-adventure-game-accused-of-grand-theft-assets for full story). In fact, given that the guy might be english, you have to wonder if it’s the same bloke!:stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: On seconding listening, not so sure the guy’s english. The accent appears to slip the odd time. One thing that seems more interesting, though, is that he might like to try on different accents. Have a listen to this other DailyMotion vid from the same contributor and see if you think it’s the same person:

Notice how, apart from trying to flog dodgy products, they both say ‘umm’ and ‘uh’ at the end of their sentences? Now, where’s my magnifying glass and deer stalker…
