A classical composition

In the process of exploring non destructive workflows I ended up with what would be at this point my third (!) attempt at modeling a Corinthian column in Blender.

Composition inspired to a section of St. Paul’s cathedral in London.

Modeled in Blender, textured in Substance Painter and composited in Photoshop.

Looks amazing, I was just wondering how did you go about making the spiraled parts of the pillar’s “crown”?

Hello and thank you! Spirals are essentially based on the logarithmic spiral curve coming from the extra curves addon integrated in Blender. Then there is of course a bit of manipulation (the process is similar to what I did for the ionic capital, if you want to check my yt channel).

Wow… that’s a looooot of details.

This was sculpted?

What techniques did you use to make this?

It is all hand-modelled :+1: It just requires a bit of practice (it was my third Corinthian column :D) and a looot of patience!

I’m preparing a step-by-step breakdown on my yt channel in case you are interested

Hi everyone,

Here is the “Behind the Scenes” article for this majestic artwork!

Please do check out this article, written by the artist himself. It describes the step-by-step process of creating the artwork and provides insight into architectural designing in Blender.

This is incredible. I have done doric and ionic orders. But never been able to pull off corinthian.
