Ive finished the modelling and started rendering, Still alot to do. What do you think:o
Does anyone have an ideas for a real scene?

the materials and lighting are letting this awesome piece of work down. it looks like just another screenshot from gran tourismo…with many times the poly count that is not even apparent. Work on the lighting and materials and give us the photoreal cobra that we all have been waiting for…

thats beautiful!!..but i was wondering if u can make a new .blend file with opnly the steering weel…(i have a hard time making steering wheels…dunno why?)…and then post it?..once again i love it!

looks perfect, are you using internal render?

Yes you are most right.

Im tossing up between lots of different renderers and ive come to decision thats ill either use yafray or internal, mainly because poly counts(3.2 million when rendering), then ill probably choose yafray because of better lighting.

Im going to make a 3d scene rather than just a fake scene/studio which should make the car look better fit in and a rework of the materials for yafray. Atm it was just blender internal renderer.
Does anyone have any thoughts on a scene, like a photo of somwhere that i could try recreate, that the car would look good in?

@ blender spartan-
Keep trying with your own, and follow a background image of a steering wheel you like.

:eyebrowlift:Absolutely stunning work!!!. Nice keep up the good work.

How about a scene on Hwy 1 in Northern California? The Pacific Coast Highway? I’m thinking of a spot about 10 miles south of Half Moon Bay where the northbound hwy crests a hill and opens a vista of miles of coastline and the road dropping to a bridge over a ravine. When I get home tonight I’ll see if I can find a photo, I’m sure I shot it at least once.
And the car looks great!

Another thought, how about a basic “country lane” scene? I took a couple of shots on my way home tonight of such a place near my home, they’re attached. I think it would be cool to show the Cobra cresting a small hill on a lane, with daylight visible beneath all 4 tires.

@klaatuteela, The country lane scene would have to much vegetation, but i like the idea of having the car on top of a crest and you can see the sky under the wheels. Thanks for the ideas.

heres what i got, its either a wip render or will throw it away and make another scene render. Its supposed to be out the front of like a car workshop garage thing. renderer in yaf(a)ray. I would like to have another cobra in front of the other door, but facing the other way, and a different colour- to show the back, but that would bump it over 6 million faces.
(im not entirely happy with this scene, nor do i know how to render good)

(yes that is full size:o)

wow, your tricky  the color of the car material is a smooth beige, so the model looks even nicer !!! good base material, will have to try it too (but not the car i´m not that good…)

well, sorry for sounding so harsh, but after gran tourismo, it’s now looking like gta vice city…:(…i know it’s tricky to get yafray going, nonetheless. Also, at this size, it’s hard to see the flow of reflections from one panel to the other but there seems to be some trouble near the door. On a good note, the bright sunny scene is really setting the mood, and perhaps another cobra (orange, maybe) will look good in there. I am not sure, but blender 2.47 now uses instancing so you can put in more objects without choking the memory. Good going d00d…we have to take this one to the gallery!!!

How are the garage doors done? Is it just a mesh or something different? I want to use a corrugated metal for my Seminole Bingo project (in the WIPs) but haven’t gotten to that yet. Your doors look great.
I guess this is a nerd moment. You do a gorgeous Cobra and I’m asking about the garage doors…
And, I had another thought on a scene. Back to the NorCal idea, but this time it’s one of the many roadside parking areas that overlook the cliffs by the ocean. The Cobra is parked next to a Norton Commando, the driver and the rider are looking out to sea and the sunset, where a Spitfire is banking in the evening light. Sort of a “Brit iron” scene.

I think ive decided to go back to a studio scene

Rendering with yafaray and HDR IBL.
Render time: 3hrs

There obviously things wrong with this render but its better then previoous one, and im awaiting answeres about some of them at yafaray forums, like the glass being too reflective etc.
It also looks like its floating… thats because it is, but thats fixed now. The lights are black and noisy, hopefully that will clear when the quality is increased, chrome material is quite poor in this render but i think thats fixed now. Once i can get the glass not to reflect like that ill post another render with some things fixed. Also the paint is probably too shiny

What are your oppinions on anything to get fixed etc

Thanks.
Also i might do some different lighting, like it under a spotlight etc.

@klaatuteela, the doors have a texture and a normal map:yes:

well, now it’s started to look good. My point is, if you have put in so much effort putting in the details, then take the camera closer and show it. And i don’t find the paint to be too shiny…i think u got it right htere…resolve your yafray issues and get back with an update.

OK fixed the glass. Found it was all the normals had to be flipped, i couldnt see the difference in which way they were facing since the glass is so thin. Also chrome is improved.

Now i upped the settings a bit but the lights are still black(awaiting another answer at yafaray forums), i didnt finish the render… had to stop it.

@anuraag_01- yeah i will make lots of render of the litle parts but first i want a one of the whole car, and btw im using yaf(a)ray not yafray, yafaray is the new version of yafray, but its not complete yet.

To do now more tweaking-
glass is too blue
wheels arent right colour
sidewall on tires needs better placement
fix the lights
windscreen frame looks crap
found a screw is deleted from one of the bonnet catches, replace that
perhaps, change the hdr map to a different one
