One Question: Can I use images from CGTextures? You said we can use image textures created in GIMP/Photoshop, but you CGTextures was ambiguous.

To answer some questions:

Are textures from CGtextures ok? It depends if they’re creative commons or not. Don’t use other people’s copyrighted textures (or models). In general, it’s better if it’s all your own work.

I would say no to external renderers. Cycles should be ok, but since it isn’t going to be in 2.60 (right?), it’s probably better to use Blender internal. Remember that we’re trying to showcase what 2.60 can do.

As far as the version number of the template, it’s just a number.

So far the variety of ideas has been great!
Here’s a hint: Try to come up with a good composition. We’re not just looking for a well rendered image, it should also be well designed to fit with the banner. Try for well balanced framing, nice use of colour and contrast, and good design in general.

Good start so far. Keep 'em coming!

Edit: Also, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t add a new post for any new revisions of your designs. Just go back and edit your original post to add/replace your old versions. Some of you have done this already, which is great.
Once the deadline passes, we’ll review the thread from the beginning, so your work wont be missed.
