Is only a comentary, but looking a the logo trends on 2021 we see 2 strong trends: mix of 2d turning 3d, and mix of gradients of colors. Examples.
Being Blender itself a 3d product it would be more logic.
I dont know if i’m the only one to do this, but a lot of times i only chose an app on the playstore simply by the good look of the logo, and usually works. Bad apps have bad logos, and good apps have good logos.
No offense, but I despise that font with a passion. I agree the current font doesn’t look great, but the new one in your design looks like an uglier version of Ubuntu and I’d really hate to have to look at it every day. The new icon lacks visual interest and feels unbalanced. The old one isn’t necessarily balanced, but it has some visual interest.
I do like your icon for BA, but I’ve got a soft spot for BA’s current logo. Maybe your BA icon would work better for Blender itself? Gotta pick a different font though. I think the kerning might be off?
Who’s for renaming Ton Roosendaal to Tom Rosendall ? the spelling always confused me, surely it would make things much simpler
