I know you mods do this stuff in your spare time, and you probably dont have a lot of time to change the theme… I dont know how complicated it is or what all is involved in the process of changing the theme.

Anyway, instead of ranting and whining, i decided i should try and help you guys out. So here’s my question:

Is there a template somewhere that i can download so i can make a theme myself? I figure i can just make buttons and graphics and replace them in the template and send it back to you guys. You all can vote on it, and if you like it, maybe you can implement it or give me suggestions on how to make it meet your expectations for the website theme.

Doesnt vbulletin come with different themes? Or can’t they be downloaded from somewhere? I remember something about this

yeah, right now im working on a banner. I’ll make sure to use BlenderArtists rather than elysiun. thanks for the tip alex_g

I’ll post my banner soon to give you a preview of what the theme would look like and the general color scheme im thinking of

We actually already have someone working on a full template (for the CMS end of things too).

It’s a little slow in coming as we’re still partially planning things and I’m 100% privy to the goings on but I do know it’s still being worked on.

Sorry for the delay, none of us really like the vBulletin theme either :slight_smile:

Well, i got this far for tonight. I’ll show you what i got so far and you can tell me if i should finish it or not. I hope you can use it if i do…

Just a rough version, it will look glossy in the end with a border around it.

Any icon can be put in the blue orb, Im open to suggestions = )

The color theme can be changed according to what you mods would think best.

the writing on the “blenderartists.org Forums” is kind of hard to read, maybe try a darker colour

I’m thinking i should switch to black for the navigation instead of blue… What do you guys think?

I’m not really sure if it should be black or blue, however something’s bugging me about the reflection in that last pic.

by the way, “Members List” doesn’t have an apostrophe

Yep, black definately looks better… What is it that bugs you about the reflection Alex_G? (Btw, thanks a lot for your input, nobody else really seems to care)

looks very good! I like it, but also ,the old elysiun theme was good, too. easy on the eyes. Try to make this just as easy on the eyes. Dark grey with white text.

Sorry Venom but it just isn’t doing it for me at all. The main banner is incredibly difficult to read and, er, dare I say it - very 1970’s. The 2D imagery doesn’t seem to say much about Blender itself

Drop shadows on small text are rarely a good idea. Fuzzy drop shadows on most text are also rarely a good idea.

Plus, as Ditto said - someone is already working on this. But if you’re doing it for fun (and with a bit of hope) then don’t let that stop you.
