there is also a wiki page on this
The Unified Thread Standard (UTS) defines a standard thread form and seriesâalong with allowances, tolerances, and designationsâfor screw threads commonly used in the United States and Canada. It is the main standard for bolts, nuts, and a wide variety of other threaded fasteners used in these countries. It has the same 60° profile as the ISO metric screw thread, but the characteristic dimensions of each UTS thread (outer diameter and pitch) were chosen as an inch fraction rather than a millimete...
Thanks
OK, thats one of the neatest scripts Iâve come across for Blender. And I have a helluva lot of Blender scripts. hehe.
Excellent work!
I would really love to see all the ANSI standard sizes in this script. (All the way down to 0-80).

Hi, your script saved me a lot of time.
A parameter for the offset between the head and the spiral would be great.
is it available in 2.5 yet ?
Thanks keep up the good work
RickyBlender,
no not yet.
but it will be when the author finds time/learns the new api/api stabilizes a bit more.

Iâm working on it. Itâs almost done. I am having problems getting the gui to do what I want.
I think that I will release what I have got and wait for the gui to get sorted.
I found a bug this morning that I want to fix first.

Hey umm one more question⌠Would you mind me adding a link to this post and credit you for the bolts on my aircraft on the website im hosting my plane build on? Ill credit you and all, its for the fact that without this script and bolt models I wouldnt have been able to achieve the detail I wanted on my plane.
Here is the link to my post on the website - http://www.allaircraftarcade.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=311515#311515
The credits will go both at the bottom of my post and under the image ill upload of the new nose cone on my plane.
Regards, Pork.
Spudmn,
we can help you with any issues in irc freenode #blenderpython
it would be good to get this script back into blender.
I would love to have this in 2.5! I have been using it in 2.49 and its amazing!

Bolt factory V3.00 is now available for Blender 2.5.
I would like to make it interactive but I am having problems with getting the GUI API to do what I want.
The link at the start of this thread.
Enjoy.

Hi RickyBlender
Open the script in blenders text editor.
Alt P to run the script.
Bolt Factory should appear on the Tool Shelf Panel. You might have to resize the Panel to get it to update. I still havenât worked out how to do this automatically.
Click the Create button and make yourself a bolt.
Click on some of the other buttons to change the type of mesh you want to make.
The plug in will eventually be a Add Mesh interactive plug in, but I canât get the GUI to do what I want. (I think itâs a bug). Till then I have released it as a Tool Shelf Plug in.
Yes I plan to do other screw types. Wood screws and self tappers will be next.
Can you send me a link to a image of a âstove lag power screwsâ.
ok i did not see the added panle in tool panel at bottom
ok first you need to create it to get any bolt and then you modify and crate again i guess
hope you can complete it like other in the add ons and may be add mesh
il will be a very nice on
iâll check some data for the lag and power srews be back later
nice work thanks
you ahve all the proper dimensions i think but
i did not see the pre defined dimensions for the bolts
are you planning to add theses values ?
Thanks

Nice script, thank you!
Could you add auto fix-normal after creating bolt?
How do you subsurf the bolt good? When I use edge-split it looks better, but canât use subsurf.
I made an image with some bolts, perhaps you can use it.

Hi Dune2k
Iâm glade you like the script. Thanks for the image. I always like to see what people are doing with the script.
I donât understand what you mean by fix-normal. Can you explain what you are doing in blender to do this.
I donât try to subsurf the bolts. I just use smooth (under Object Tools) and then edge-split.
