Cargo Ship

Had some fun rendering this cargo ship with different HDRI backgrounds whilst I was working on another piece (I ended up liking these more than the other bigger work…).

I modelled and textured everything in Blender, with the exception of two human models I used for the silhouettes (Blenderkit).

I was inspired for the design by the WWII Sherman tank, particularly the cast turret. I wanted something chunky, somewhat inelegant, and looking like it might be out of date in whatever setting it ended up in.

I was also inspired a little by the ball-turrets from B-17 bombers. But this thing has guns that fire shells the size of humans. Its firing angles are pretty limited though and it’d be mincemeat against smaller ships.
