The term “light” has a few definitions. It can be an emission of photons (visible light), the opposite of dark, the opposite of serious (humor), a food or beverage with few calories, or something that doesn’t weigh much.
My entry actually seems to hit most of those definitions. It is a light colored beer (not dark) that seems to be emitting visible light, and also appears to be floating in space, so it probably doesn’t weigh much. While I can’t really portray calories (at least not without a label), you might be able to say my entry is also makes light of the topic
I think some of the best WC entries are the ones that are a bit tongue-in-cheek (like the Mission to Mars contest)

didn’t have much time this weekend, so I made something simple.
In case you can’t tell what it is, it’s a prism submerged in water, doing it’s refracting thing. (I’m really out of ideas)
I was going to do this with yafray, but the lights acted weird and it took so long to preview that I gave up and switched to internal.

Here’s my pure entry:
Who ever said that light has to be related to something good? Behind everything lurks mystery, and my mystery is deadly. This little fella uses his light to catch his victims and make their life that much shorter.

Here is my fairly simple take.
This is pure Blender and all new.
I wanted to show light as the only opposition to darkness in the simplest way.
Click the thumb for a larger view.
…updated to include some texturing on the plate.
