Challenge #762 Voting CLOSED

This week’s theme:

Too Much Power

After 2 days of voting, a winner is declared: The voting will close on Wednesday.
The winner picks the theme for next week.

[ If the winner doesn’t supply a theme before Thursday 22:30 GMT, the organizer will select the theme. In this case, the winner’s theme will be used the next time we are lacking a theme on Thursday 22:30 GMT. ]

Having selected the theme, the winner will not be eligible to enter that week. They may however still submit an image, but it won’t be included in the voting.

I wish i could`ve finished my entry but my vote went NiklasWerth but Veincore was a close second.

probably one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. In the end I voted for VeinCore. Fantastic render! If I were you I would’ve called it ‘Made of Money’.

Thanks stranger, whoever voted for me!

This is the first weekend challenge that I have interred. Thanks to everyone who is voting on my entry.:eyebrowlift:

Thanks munno101  I went with VeinCore. Just a very striking image, well done.

My vote went to Iridesium - because it’s the exact one I’ve imagined for “too much power.” Awesome futuristic and sci fi concept!

You know, it’s one of those times where I wish I could multi-vote. There were so many hilarious and original entries! No matter, I’m glad we are in this together, I think that’s the most fun of all! Not only that, I wanted to mention that VeinCore’s piece is very thought-provoking. It has some sad truth to it that money holds such a power over the humanity. Mmm, indeed. Like I said earlier, I wish I could vote for more than one entry.

Thank you whoever voted for me. It was fun doing some procedural shader exercise! ^^

Some very nice entries this week. I had to think a little bit harder about where my vote would go, but I chose YAYA’s “untitled” as it carried the theme the best.

But that said, there were so many other entries which looked so good. Astiero, your render stood out among the rest being very aesthetically pleasing. I also like purbosky’s jet being very overkill with it’s engines.

I hope to get the time to compete in the next challenge again. Haven’t been able to for the past weeks.

Thks unyxium, in fact, I only had monday to start and finish the pic but anyway, great entries! …that was fun… …next week, I will have all the time to do something better!

There were some nice ideas and some beautiful renders but I voted for VeinCore without a single shred of hesitation. I simply love the idea so much and the execution of it…Brilliant! Good job!

I wish to thank whoever voted for my humble render, I am very happy to see that others share my sense of humor

Wow! This is the first image I created for a challenge. So happy to see that some of you guys like it! Thanks to all of you who voted for me  The variety of results is astonishing. As some of you mentioned before, it was difficult to make a decision, but finally I chose astieros render. I pretty much like the mood and feel it gives to me. Nice work!

@VeinCore. I really like the feel and mood of your image and I like Purboskys concept. I’d still like to win though 8)
Cool portfolio by the way VeinCore. I like it.

I like the modeling on the drone str11, so therefore my vote goes to you! I do think the composition would improve if you left a dozen drones out  Less is more i guess.

Also liked ur entry a lot RobertT, at first i had something similar in mind, but i would never nailed it like you did. Amazing enrty.

Great entries everyone, kind of glad I didn’t get time to enter this challenge  I started it and only ended up with my snail and shell racing a funny car dragster. But then the company showed up for the week. So I will probably be late starting the next challenge too.

@RayVelcoro Thank you so much!
I’m very appreciate it.Honestly I did not get into the topic a bit:)this is more situable for the topic military aviation/airstrike

Some comments:

Shenfara: Somebody ate too many beans! The toon style is quite cute, but the scene is a bit empty.

MDO2010: Interesting take on the theme, I totally did not see that one coming. I liked how the two looks melted. The image is a bit dark though.

purbosky: That’s a lot of engines alright! The plane looks pretty cool, and the materials are very good. Looking closely I can see that there are some trails from the engines. I think you could’ve made them a bit more visible/less transparent.

BenitaS: Spooky. I like this kind of picture with a tall structure in the night lit from below. The lighting is pretty nice. I’m just not sure what this is, but that only makes the image even more mysterious!

fcharr: Flower power! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I liked the materials and the defects. The roots also look pretty nice, properly wrapping themselves around the ring. Just one thing: Organic materials are often semi-transparent (just try to place a light source close to your hand and you’ll see). You could use subsurface scattering or translucency to simulate this. The plant looks a bit plastic without this effect.

khalidsrri: Is that a burning star? I liked the “smoky” halo around it. It also looks pretty hot. But I think you could’ve reserved the glare effect only for the stars. The glare from the compositor often looks quite silly/artificial.

astiero: Loved you take on the theme. Very emotional image. Also liked you usage of empty space to enhance the feeling between the two people, making it clear that they are only thinking about each other here.

Iridesium: I liked that alien. Also the concept of a guardian for the solar system is very interesting. With greater power comes great responsibility!

Munno101: Indeed, whoever has this kind of weapon at their disposal has way too much power! The missiles look more like bullets than missiles though. I think missiles tend to not be so pointy, and have some wings on the back.

beau11: This looks a bit like the kind of view you see when travelling around the country. Those wind turbines look pretty nice (maybe a bit too glossy?). I just think that you shouldn’t have cropped the one in the front. Also, vignetting is a bit too strong (I mistake I made a dozen times already ;)).

didierv: Loved reading all the details. It certainly makes the job of the president much easier if he just needs to turn some knobs and press some buttons. My only critique is that some of the text is a bit hard to read (for example “marines” or “air force”). Also, you misspelled enemy  (or was it a joke?)

joshwinkler3d: I liked the derpy face of the dog. But I don’t understand the connection to the theme.

RayVelcoro: I liked the lighting and the sky. The rotation turbines are also pretty nice, and you manage to picture this feeling of motion pretty well.

YAYA: HAHA, poor robot. I guess it was expecting 110V and got 220V  (not sure if most of the world still has this problem in some places). I liked the robot and the shards on the floor.

VeinCore: Strong message. The lighting and colours are very good, and I liked how you have some many bank notes there. Just one thing: Those are euro notes, not dollars

str11: Nice model, very well detailed. Like it was already said, I think if you kept only the one in the front and a few in the back the overall composition would be better. Also, I thought your image was about “Automated war machines have too much power over humans”, so I think it fits the theme pretty well.

NiklasWerth: Cool, looks really spooky. The painterly effect was also pretty nice, and I liked those lightning bolts too (are they made only with photoshop?)

DreamMaster: I liked how you depicted the four elements using Suzanne. I think water is my favourite of the four, but the others also look nice.

caz747: Did you model Darth Vader? It looks awesome! I loved the reflections on him. I think the image would’ve looked better without the green light. Red-green-blue rarely looks good.

FuzzyPeachApple: Oops, I guess somebody needs to calibrate those legs  I liked the robots. The scene looks a bit empty; it is hard to tell where is the floor and the debris is barely visible. But I liked how the floor and the ceiling “merge” with one another.

Helge: Poor fuse, always having to sacrifice himself for the others… I liked how that wire is very chaotic (and full of duct tape).

RobertT: Haha, that looks quite dangerous, specially if you need to unplug something. I liked how there are many different plugs here.

You can always replace those with nails - just ask Dr. Robot von Blitzeinschlag about it.

And… the winner of Weekend Challenge 762 with 26.53% of the votes is… VeinCore!

@Millani Thanks for the feedback, the idea was the dog has too much power - the inability to say no  Maybe a hypno-dog or including the FEED ME! as part of the image would have helped, at least the dog has escaped the flood

And at least it can be recognised as a dog, I didn’t have much time.

@VeinCore Well done on winning - a well executed concept that communicates well.

Thanks for the comments Millani, and all who have voted. The trails are actually failure product of experimenting with heat distortion effect, lol… gotta do better next time.

Congrats to VeinCore! A well deserved win!

Congrats VeinCore awesome render!
