Sorry folks, nudity means #nsfw tag, making all posts here blurred
. I suggest a challenge rule to not allow nudity.
I understand, however, I notice no one having issue with the death topic ‘Jane Doe’. I’m just too tired to do anything from scratch these days. We’ll see in October, when we move to the new plant.
It can be tough to balance work, life, art… And sometimes you do take a break. I recently had to take a several month long hiatus from it. You produce alot of art and that’s good, but you also want to make to grow as an artist. That can mean time off to read art history, try a new medium, experiment. You don’t want to stagnate.
As for the topic, maybe it is a bit dark, but mostly fine. And again the difference between art and low grade porn can come down to execution. How good are the models, materials, lighting. It isn’t always what it is, it’s how it’s presented.
I created a naked doll for all intents and purposes, not even realistic. Facebook seems to like it though… Alas, for me, this is pretty much stagnation time, did you see last week’s entry? oh boy…
On nudity: There is a “hide details” function in this editor. Gear symbol → hide details. That hides the items contained in it unless clicked to reveal it. Example:
Click to see hidden words.
This is hidden.
This is similar to blurring since it hides stuff unless a viewer performs a specific action to see it. Plus it does not effect anything else in the thread like nsfw does.
This could be an alternative to nswf if the staff authorize it for that use.
No sorry, the topic needs the #nsfw tag, also for other reasons.
I am just wondering why it cant be set per image.
Not based on comments in this thread (Although I did see the request in last week’s vote)

I guess, there are worse things than blurred images. I’ll look through the entries tomorrow night and set an nsfw tag for the voting thread if necessary.
That might make sense. However, I consider this a rather difficult topic. Like @Photox said, “one nude is art and another is tasteless”. It often depends on the context (and to be honest, I’m still not sure if I’m reading that correctly, in this case). And what about other topics like death, politics, violence, crime, disgust, unicorns, …
Maybe that ‘nsfw’ tag remains a good way of dealing with this issue (unless the entries content is explicitly prohibited by blenderartists’s general Terms of Service). I mean, something can be art - but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is safe for work.
I’m not sure how to interpret the entry. For @fcharr’s entries I usually look out for some kind of musical explanation. So far, I found “Wide Awake” (Katy Perry) - not exactly my taste of music - and I’m not sure if it can help to explain the entry. ![]()
Does it necessarily mean that someone died? As far as I know, the names “John Doe”, “Jane Doe”,… are used in many other situations where the real name remains unknown. On the other hand, these names obviously aren’t commonly used in Germany.
So, still some way to go. Maybe we can find a way to distract you from the job a little better over the next few month.
Btw. I originally, planned to do some kind of Tarzan/Jane entry with an accident involving Jane, a liana, a giant tree trunk and a speech bubble of someone (Jane) screaming a Simpsons style “doh!”. I then remembered the old “George of the Jungle” poster and scrapped that idea.
I am sorry but with all due respect, Jane Doe is not a “death” topic. That’s why I gave extra info on the theme, one of which , yes, references unnamed dead persons but it is only one use. Jane Doe, is first and foremost, a name placed to/by someone to conceal whatever may be the real name. You can jump off from it wherever you want to.
I meant the theme only for fun.
also if this is a “death” topic so was last weeks’ and the week before.
I hope I didn’t offend anyone through my explanation - once again it was only chosen for fun and creative reasons.
love it
Our current solution is based on tags, and those are always on the topic level, not on the individual image level. An alternative post-level solution would require us commissioning the development of a plugin. Since the current solution covers the majority of use cases, I don’t think this is necessary. The current case of a weekend challenge, with many contributors to one topic AND that contains nudity, is rare enough to consider an edge case.
Hi @bartv, thanks for your explanation, too bad if there really is no solution available on image or post level.
Mostly it made me think that this way a single post had influence on other peoples post, a system that could also be eploited in a negative way in other threads and regarding contests I agree with @Helge, that the rule to forbid nude content in contests sounds like it causes discussions easily. Just strange to see that there isnt a more finegrained solution available for this usecase.
Really nice idea
Just caught myself thinking about this, so I 'l add this little propoal. Why not leave the whole tagbased system as is, but add another one to give people the chance to opt in to that manually. Had the simple idea, that the filename of the people uploading it could contain a nsfw.
So the contests rules could instead be expanded that way, that images containing nudity should add a nsfw wherever in their filenames. Then you could just the following small check to you stylesheet. I did a simple override test in the shop contests stylesheet. Worked. This way you would still have the chance to add your tag if people dont respect it, but offer a more finegrained selfcontrolled solution for the forum members.
img:[alt*=“shop”] {
filter: blur(10px);
}
Just change the relating stylesheet definitions like this and change shop to nsfw . ![]()
I like how you’re thinking
The one issue with that is that moderators can’t override the filenames to ‘force’ this when necessary…
True, but you could say, remove that image and load it up again with an appropriate naming please, or I’ll have to tag the whole thread. Its like in this thread here, the user was pretty much aware of the topic and I bet he’d simply added it if he’d had a chance. I find it always a good move to give people the choice to respect rules without being forced.
( or is there also a check for identical files with different names?)
