I know Bellingcat from an documantion on arte if i remember right and wanted to take a look at it cause i get interesed, but never have. I will read some guides that look interesting.

Trace an Object looks very hard, specially the resolution of some pieces is very low. I wonder why they cut the area off too, that could give much more hints.

I guess they just remove all humans from the images. Probably in order to protect the victims and to avoid false accusations. And some of the images can be decades old which makes it even harder to recognize anything.
