Clipping plane for specific object

Hi all,
Archviz question again:
I am rendering a floor orthographic top view and I would like to use a clipping plane just for the shell (the walls) but leave everything else unclipped (so camera clipping distance cannot be used)

is there a way to do it?

Hi Aris, how about a cube that is parented to the camera so it follows view and does a bool on the walls? That’s what came to mind first at least.

good idea but burnin’s sounds much better!
@burnin amazing! I’ll give it a try right away!!!

is it 2.8 compatible?
I only found instructions for 2.7, followed them (in 2.8) but the addon does not appear in the list (I only found “node wrangler” is that it?

If you’re using cycles and your walls have no thickness, take a look if this solution fits your needs.
(with walls’ normals pointing inside)
In poor words, the cube material is principled(green) inside and transparent outside.

Oh, you know nothing :pensive: Well, it’s scripted osl shader.
So just take it easy, read and learn some, while doing the Boolean operation for starters. :slightly_smiling_face:

well that’s encouraging hehehe
