Interesting fact - Russia built their own Space Shuttle! Based on the US one, of course. But it inspired me to model my own recreation of the shuttle. I’m hoping to sort of hit a secret military look, with black paint and Russia’s overkill booster systems.
So far, Iv’e done a few hours work on the boosters and fuel tank/booster (Russian inspired, once again) and this is what I’ve come up with.
C&C welcome, some decals will come soon, I’ve almost got the textures sorted for them.
Btw, the russian Shuttle is called Buran, or snowstorm in English. When I get time I’ll post some images of it, untill then you’ll have to make do with looking it up yourself on Google.
Update on the shuttle. I found a concept on the internet and used that for inspiration. No textures yet, how should I do it? UV map etc.? Any tutorials would be helpful.
well for the main colours (big blockslike the boosters and windscreen) i create vertex groups and assign materials.
then i would have a transparent uv map, apart from the images, logos, tiles, writing.
stuff like that.
other people will have different ways no doubt, choose whatever you think is best use of your time.
hope this helps.
also for the .3ds, download a trial of 3ds max then export to a .obj, blender can read .obj
or there are a few convertors if you cant download the trial
update: Windows Added. Decals on wings + small boosters (Thanks Nyrath for telling me how to do that, although it was ages ago (located here, post 15)), plus a bit of work on materials.
