Diffuse path guiding has been in master since 3.4.

Do the new alpha builds contain the updates to include RIS and glossy path guiding?

Ah, yes, sorry, I meant full Path Guiding, including glossy rays.

No GPU-powered PG yet, I assume?

I don’t think the inclusion of glossy rays represent full PG.

This is the list of tasks still outstanding

I can’t wait for that to get in.

I’m curious about the current progress of PG. It seems that sherholz has not been active or participated in Cycles meetings for a long time.

They are working on updating the libraries in blender to the most recent 0.5.0

Hi @Piter
could you share the scene. This should not happen especially since nothing changed in path guiding code.

It might be related to this https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/105776

The brighter images are from a Blender version right before that fix was merged.

@Piter does the image also looks darker without path guiding?

Yes it is darker
I can send build from 14.03.23
may be it is a reason of difference
This is render test for
blender-3.5.1-stable+v35.6ee8aa4997ee-windows.amd64-release from 3.05.23

You should be able to brighten the image back up (while maintaining the look) by simply reducing the strength of the bumpmap (as the builds with the incorrect behavior forced the use of higher values to get some sort of effect).

Sorry for the long silence. Here is a quick update for you:

Chances are good that glossy guiding makes it to 3.6. Thanks for all your help.

Good news. Is work still ongoing on this - are we likely to see another branch build in the near future with additional functions to test?

Nice, I see you hope for 4.0 is translucent support. Looking forward to that!

How does that compare to no PG no light tree in the same scene?
