Right, sorry for the long delay between posts, but that is not from inactivity:

You now die, but do not warp back to the beginning

by default the textures are 512x512 for enemies?

In theory yes.
In practice?
Well there’s a range, some are 256x256 (probably will be replaced at some time though)
There are 512x512 (what I would like them to be)
There are 600x600 (Which I just need to scale)

And there are 1024x512 which are the player ships. (and some others)

That is an Antarctic base that the player will fly their first (training) mission around.

I may well call you in. Currently BigJ is handeling the texturing, and is beating me for speed (doing modeling and putting them in-game), but if something comes up I will let you know.

The first image is from 3d view (almost the same in BGE)

Tha last one is a image from a render, in the game will not have nor&spec map.

Madman, I have a bunch of already in use bullets. Using these would be a bit more convenient (I wouldn’t have to add them into the damage script.)

Otherwise I can just change them when we put it in.

Time for another update:

  • Cockpit, shows energy, shield, weapon selection and so on
  • Pausing key (~), now also unpauses when you press it again! (It used to just freeze the game)
  • Scoring. Each enemy gives you a certain amount of points and so on. It is displayed in the cockpit
  • New way to add enemies (spawn from empty)
  • AI improvement underway (can sneak up behind them, and they won’t “see” you)
  • Lot’s of bug fixes
    And so on

Death. When you die the view switches to outside, and you see explosions covering your craft.
No still image can show this properly, and I’ll get round to making a vid one day.

BigJ are still there i was of grid for some days now i’am back in black i hate to say but i’am glad to be back… (whit some aspiration) Nice improvements this is star looking descent ;D stay tuned this game is not dead

Current work is on AI. Quite complex, but will get there one day. I’m currently focusing on turrets, so a sweep pattern until it sees you.
Then I will look at the enemy’s that rush at you…
And so on.

Redone the explosions, so they are double the framerate, but only have one object (instead of 4 that exist for a short time) thanks to a UV scroll script.

Working on the turret AI, description of it here. Almost done.

Changed the system of powerups a bit (different colored boxes and so on)

i think that the logick for the game is allready done, now work on the graphics and the game ll be awesome, congratulatons so far!

Logic is far from done, while it may appear OK when you are in a tight little tunnel with a bot at the other end, it soon becomes clear in a larger area how insufficient it really is. The bot’s always aim behind you. They have Xray vision. They always know where you are.
Player movement is done, I’ll give you that
Weapons are not done (yes, that is logic) only 3 of the 5 primary (guns) weapon slots are done, and 1 of the 5 secondary (missile) weapon slots. There is a lot more programming to do here.

Graphics, well, they are not too good, but then that isn’t really what I am wanting. I am not using GLSL, and am intending this game to be played on average computers (It currently runs 30 fps on dual core 2.1ghz). If I increase the graphics, then the number of people who play it is reduced, and that includes me, as I don’t have that great a computer.
Don’t worry though about the crappiness of this level, the ones that we have planned are way better, and some of those are already in production.
Also, when you are flying through those tunnels at any sort of speed, you don’t have time to look and say “those are bad graphics” you are going too fast to notice anything particularly bad.
