Defender (6DOF zero G shooter) Project in Progress

Right, that level BigJ showed you above, well, it has been turned into a proper level. No objectives as of yet, but here you go:



There are a handful of robot’s dotted around that present a challenge to those who have never played this game before.

Working on adding a bigger selection of weapons (currently at 3 primaries and 1 secondary)

The only thing I noticed is (if you are still updating it) that you might want to change the game file last updated date in the first post from 29/7/11 to 7/29/11.

That is, unless you are running on a different timeframe than the rest of the world… :smiley:

I’ve had a flick through your work, and WOW! It looks professional. However I have one concern. You seem to specialize in high poly organic sculpting. If you look at this project do you see any high poly objects? Or organics?

I’m not meaning to discourage you, but could you post an image of some work that you’ve done that might fit in with this project? Or would you prefer to do cut-scenes?

Thank You(: Yes, I do specialize in hi-poly sculpting, but can retopo and I have worked with other games in the past. I can also give you the hi-poly model and have a normal map or disp. map made from it for low-poly work. I would love to do cutscenes! I will do other things though for the actual game. (: I sent a PM.

Small thing what i’am working whit past few hours-Lightmaps in non gsl multi texture mode:p so here are little look on some screens !!




For now i’am tinkering whit radioactivity baking and other lighting stuff!! So little constructive criticism is advised:o
PS: Those blue lights and spot lights are only for visual impact only :wink:

I do Sound design. What sound effects do you need?

I’am not project leader!(i’am silent texture & modeling guy) If you want to help us to make sounds you must PM sdfgsdfg he is charge of leading and recruiting new team members:)

TWS Admin. We’ll be needing sound effects quite a bit. So I’m glad you’ve turned up and volunteered.

As you can see from this image is is a science fiction game, and so we need the typical sounds:

  • Explosions (2 or 3 different)
  • Blip’s and Bleeps (for messages, button presses etc)
  • Robot alert sounds. (they’ve spotted you, now run…)
  • Doors (hydraulic or pneumatic)
  • Flight sounds (you’ve been hit. Afterburner etc)
    and of course weapon sounds

and so on…

Don’t feel daunted by this list, as there is no rush in making them.

Like sdfgsdfg says, we hope that map don’t have a huge texture baked.

Thankfully BigJ assures me there are two textures, one baked and one repeating texture. Which is what I had hoped.

I confirm there are two textures (light map 512x512 and other repeating texture)

I made a new ship chooser scene because the old one was a bit tatty, and looked, well, old.
So here is the new one:


The ship and it’s shadow (and image on a plane) rotate slowly.

Both for blender and non-blender users.

Progress continues… Weapon power-ups coming now.

Added in homing missiles.
Pickups for the missiles are available through the levels, but still need to make primary weapon pickups.

Updated second post to include some new images.
Recent progress has been AI based, and the turrets now have a “seek” mode when they can’t see you.
I’m working on developing a flexible AI system for the moving bots now.
