Please tell me how you did the fabric material on the chair please:D
Thank you versusOm, that’s just what I wanna hear : )
tomrebel2@: Well it’s pretty easy, to begin with I went to www.cgtextures.com and looked under Fabric -> Plain fabric but since you can’t find normalmaps there I had to convert the image with a fantastic program called Crazybumb (which can turn any image into realistic normalmaps and can be found at http://www.crazybump.com )
Then I just UVmapped the both textures to the object.
I don’t know how much you know about normalmaps and UV-mapping but you can search on it on google and you’ll find some good tutorials.
And here’s also the .Blend file if you want to take a look at it: http://visionbin.com/filesystem/view/file/blender/32/ (I’m going to upload all models when I finish the project anyway) : )
Hi again, been quite some time scince my last post but as I said, animation takes long time.
To give you all something to look at I’ve put together a trailer for the movie.

I really love what you did here, simple and effective modelling (I need to learn how to do that) and characters with a lot of expression, except… the cactus. Please do something about it, it’s ruining the whole thing, it really looks bad compared to the other objects you made.
I also loved this kind of blurry effect you made for the introduction of the character in the trailer.
Good luck with your project, it’s already looking really good…
Hi Jambz! Thank you for the critisism I really do need more of that. About the cactus, I could make a kind of realistic cactus with hairs for spikes but the thing I’m worried about is that it will come out only half as realistic as I want… That’s a thing that could maybe ruin the whole thing even more then a cartoonlooking one since the cartoony is made cartoony on purpose but a halfrealistic cactus would look maybe hidious
I definitly could try to make a realistic cactus but I’m afraid it would be a complete waist of time…
I can remember that when I were to make the cactus I thought of making it realistic but I just couldn’t find a very good reference image so that’s yet another reason.
I’m glad you looked at my work though, thank you so much : )
Heh, that was awesome. The trailer made it look epic. Great job
I agree on the cactus. If you aren’t going to change it…at least tone down the specular values to not have it pop out in the scene so much.
My other crit is with the radio speaker cover. You can clearly see artifacts from it having a low poly cage.
Looking Good! Keep it up! 5* from me
Hi all, thanks for the comments : )
DefaultSound@ hehe thank you
Nichod@ Yea, thank you for the tip about the cactus I’ll turn the spec down (the reason it has a high spec and hard value is because I wanted it to look like plastic) and about the radio, I really agree with you about that it just looks too simple so I figured I might wanna add an antenna to it. Look at the reference images below and you’ll see that it actually doesn’t have very much details.
NOOBIE@ Thank you so much : )

Hi again everyone! Since there were a couple of people requesting I’d make a more realistic cactus I have begun workin on a testmodel and I want you to tell me if it’s good enough to place in the movie. I’m doing my best to make it as good as possible.
The fist images below : )

this is AMAZING, i wish i could make even the ruler lol…
ill be checking this post
loved everything so bad!
Thank you tuku473 : ) The models were not very hard to make, each of them was made with very simple tecniques and when you have the thing in real life so you can twist it and look at it from all directions it all gets so much easier.
The cactus is now finished and I’m pretty happy with it, but is it good enough to have in the movie?
Next up will be the pixar lamp and a small table for it to stand on.

Am I allowed to hate you? for this amazing work?
I really like it, although when looking at it from the top the spines look a little sparse in comparison to the rest. Also, maybe it is just the angles of the images, but are the spines only coming out of the convex ridges like a real cactus?
Keep it up.
HJ05@ Hi and thank you, you can hate me if you like but yes I’ve tried to weight paint on the convex ridges to make the spikes come out on the right places but it may not seem like it because the spikes are all messed up
look at the pic below and you’ll see the weightpaint (just as a proof :p)
And about the sparse areas, I really hope that it’s just the angle because I can’t really add more spikes without making it look like a furrball…

Good point HJ05 they need to come from the ridges, maybe set the particle system to emit from vertices instead of faces?
Hi again, the pixar lamp is now finished. It took about 4 hours to complete and I’m pretty happy with the result.

Hi again, woah, time for another update already?
