Do people really not understand NSFW?

Our NSFW policy has nothing to do with psychology or morals, if we have pornographic images on the site it will be classified as an adult site by Google and other indexers and punished heavily- no longer showing in search results, mainly. Blurring images is an effective way to stay in compliance with Google rules

This discusion will be endless… just because people do think differently about it. Because of different traditions/ laws, you call it.

I also think it’s almost funny that most people associate the N of NSFW with N-aked… and not cruel, horrible, propaganda (against war but onlu for one side) and more…

<sarcasm>
On the other hand some “new” social media “provider” adverts with something like:

…we… provide a permanent home for high-quality news and entertainment that face discrimination by other channels and content delivery service… lot of great content that simply can’t find an audience for unjust reasons… soon have a guaranteed platform where they won’t be cancelled.

Because they are the only ones who know the “real” truth…

Or:
…a very popular video platform is not able to ban videos with some “cooking hacks” because they could hurt, poisonous and kill you… and do not have any problem with that.

</sarcasm>

And as said… people just do not behave… some didn’t read the Terms of Service at all when they want their account and all their data deleted… so especially:

7. Content Posted on Other Websites

…so it is also no use to talk about GUI-Design when this site uses some discussion software:

…and the users just do not learn how to use it… most even haven’t even completed the DiscoBot tutorial:

From 166643 users only 3.3k are certified:

This badge is granted upon successful completion of the interactive new user tutorial. You’ve taken the initiative to learn the basic tools of discussion, and now you’re certified!

and only 486 licensed:

This badge is granted upon successful completion of the interactive advanced user tutorial. You’ve mastered the advanced tools of discussion — and now you’re fully licensed!

…so essentially most seem not know what the are doing at all

And something about the work to do to maintain this site:

If someone have a look into the FAQ and may find this:

and especilly have a look into this one:

someone might see that this just barely covers the server costs…

…so it’s very easy to cry out loud:

There have to be… …and some showed that they cried for things which are already there…

Just think about this…

Or:

…to answer the initial question:

No, they do not.

:person_shrugging:

Poignant observation.

Just try addons that filter nsfw like https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/wingman-jr-filter/ or search an addon that placeholders all pictures until you click on it.

I don’t typically model people, but I’m inclined to, now, and deliberately not tag it NSFW.

You’re aware of our policy now, so doing this on purpose would be a great way to get your account suspended.

Spot-on. All I want to do is post unmarked nude pictures to trigger OP now. I might even take time off to sculpt a handful of fantasy shlongs

Sorry I didn’t realize this thread was on approval. I wouldn’t have bothered you mods with my joke (or at least would have marked it nsfw)

I am pretty sure there are several rules in this forum which are more or less frequently violated, including the nsfw one.
All the situations I have seen and flagged in the past were swiftly handled by the moderators in their spare time. Even if I don’t agree with all the decisions, I highly respect everyone who has special role in this forum to keep it running!

Now, you have encountered one such situation which bothered you. Fair enough. Considering how infrequently this happens, it would be an overreaction in my opinion. You could as well add a checkbox to every post where you need to confirm that you are following the forum rules. It would end up being a recipe for people to automatically click on something without reading what it is about…

Maybe off topic:

People argue about cruelty, status of children or woman, ideals and others in fairy tales and if the are appreciate in our modern world…

…and then… you could be shot with a long gun… legally owned by a nine year old :exploding_head: :

WashingtonPost : News: 2014 in-30-states-a-child-can-still-legally-own-a-rife-or-shotgun

Do people really not understand …

  • Thou shalt not steal
  • Thou shalt not kill
    … and much more ?

( just as an example; but this also applies for other religions…)

No… they do not.

My advise to the OP at this point, I would not attempt to escalate the issue by being reactive. As expected, I am seeing the reason why I hesitate to bring up such a subject myself, as people are digging in and looking to invoke the ‘forbidden fruit effect’ (known elsewhere as the streisand effect).

If there is no remaining argument that can be made that has not been made (ie. practical arguments that can be made in an intellectual manner), then work to promote peace and let the thread rest.

One also cannot lose sight of the fact that there are a lot of teenaged and young adult males who sit behind a computer all day, either playing games or using 3D software. For them, these images are sometimes their only contact with women. So you would expect a certain amount of obsessing and compulsion both at that age and also as a result of social isolation. One has to accept that it’s “the nature of the beast” so to speak.

I would also suggest that most people’s wives have seen a few pictures of their own show up on their screens, whether by accident or purposeful intention.

Blender is all about forbidden fruits… Mango… Apricot…

Can we please lock this thread @joseph, it seems to have passed it’s meaningfulness after the first couple posts.

Some people just don’t, and there’s really nothing the moderators can do about it until well after the fact.

To put it simply, there are hundreds of topics, and dozens of pieces of artwork posted here on a daily basis by just as many people. The vast majority are benign, though there’s always a chance that an unmarked bare nipple might be posted, and an equally small chance that you will click on the post containing this bare nipple before the moderators can address it.

…that’s the internet. No matter how tightly run a website might be, any site that allows hundreds of people to post daily will always risk someone going off kilter, and posting something you personally don’t believe belongs here. All you or anyone else can do about it is remain vigilant, and watch what you click on.

Sometimes people in a special themed forum start to discuss politics…
…if i want to discuss politics then i would join a political forum…

Can i do something about it ?? No… i have to read it first but then i’m also not sure if you should mute the whole thread or any user participating in that discussion…

:person_shrugging:

I think this discussion has run its course and I’m closing this topic.
