Doris sketchbook

You are a machine Doris.

I read it on other comments, on other forums, someone even wrote it for me. Once upon a time.
It’s a really funny expression.
However, oh, you’re a machine man. LOL
OK you are a girl but what’s the deferent anyway.
Beautiful!!!
Still digging it. Lot of memories, not the most pleasant ones. Not really.

swmo, glad to hear that from you  i admire your drawings, so it means a lot to me, thanks.
bonrw,  thank you
oh, michalis! you know, after reading your comment in the morning, i rushed into the bathroom and looked into mirror, and you are right! i did not realise until now what all these endless hours of sculpting did to me !! …lol… enjoy my friend, and thank you for sparking my imagination, i had loads of fun

Love how expressive and realistic your portraits are, Doris! Fantastic work.

grandma looks great and vivified. she’s got that “you want some cake too, my dear?” aura. great stuff!

gradyp. thank you. yes expressive is what i strive to get. it is hard, but also fun
iceking, thank you. vivified, such a nice word here  so glad to hear she comes across the way i intended

i think, i call this one done… concept sculpt in dynatopo, see post above, and then retopo, etc. everything done in blender, with the one exception of painting the skin textures which was done in zbrush…

Hi Doris

This is superb once again, I think michalis is correct and this is a self portrait.

Shaun

hi shaun, thank you  … oh, no this is not a self portrait… my avatar however is one, though i took some artistic licence

Highly impressive work, Doris -
great composition of organic and technoid details

thank you martinus. glad you notice, as this was one of my big goals with the piece
thank you dan. ah, you liked myst too, great to hear

and a new portrait sketch… which was also an exercise in lightning…

The head mesh is great, classic. but the sweater is oustanding

thank you fred  …ah, the sweater is actually quite easy, getting the classic face not so …lol

That is an incredible portrait!
Why is it not on top row already??

Fantastic detail all around, Doris! The sweater looks amazing. You’re artwork is always inspiring.

Very well done !!!
Some more love on the brows.
A repetition of these brush strokes isn’t the best you can do.
However, I noticed such issues on some classical busts too.
Well, we can do better sometimes, you never know. You never know! All the fun is here and now.
By example, see how more interesting forms working on hair. You could add more details (you will, probably)

I should also comment the down lip.
Here we have some variety of forms.
Africans, caucasians or others.
Neither this way, I have seen so many variations around, can’t say.
There is a basic shape cut and a curved shape on top of it.
Somehow. The way the curve is placed does the difference. Lot of varieties, of beauties.

thank you bonrw,ah, because it is just a sketch
thank you gradyp, i always love when my work is inspiring. this is the best it can do. i know how much it gives me, looking at inspiring art
michalis, thank you. yes, the brows, you are right about it. i was trying a stylised way, which does not really work. will consider this better next time. , i am not sure if i can follow your saying about the lips. the one i sculpted uses a reference, so if i did not make a mistake, it is a real one.

new sculpt, this time with a little help of zbrush, as blender sculpting does not like high polygon counts as needed for full figures (i have actually sculpted both complete, with mom wearing yeans and bare feet, but, for the storytelling, i decided to go with a more focused composition…)… postwork in photoshop…

nice. just in time for mothers day

Very beautiful Doris. I think it was a wise decision to have a closer cropped composition.

Everyday is a mother’s day, actually.
Beautiful work Doris!
Shoulders and arms of the child should be a little more spherical? Fatter? With all these cloths?
Mother looks so happy! So mother! An achievement here, very well captured.
