I feel as if I should be getting some edge wear here, and yet…
Pointiness only works in Cycles, I’m not sure which you’re using but that might be it
I made sure it was in Cycles, and tried some different geometries with weird results. Here’s the file if anyone wants to have a look:
no_edge_wear.blend (861.5 KB)
Try adding some bevel…
It just began working for me as well. I think the problem may have been that I was in material draw mode and it doesn’t seem to work other than to shift from one color to another in that mode.
Thanks for having a look.
A different variation…

edge_wear_3.blend (3.4 MB)
Interesting !
I was just about to purchase this add-on before I came across your thread !
Thanks !
Yes, that seems pricey when it’s such a simple setup.
I appreciate your experiment.
I see a lot of addons on BlenderMarket that cleverly repackage existing functionality and charge a fortune for it, and someone they have hundreds of sales
sometimes I wish I was a professional scammer like them, I could make a killing putting basic operators in a side panel ![]()
I think the add-on creator for
make it into a single node and I do appreciate that but this thread does give me yet another option which I do appreciate.
I used this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIxq_QAO7Og
for this image
I provided a blend file there with examples.
Here’s the same effect using Fluent Materializer. It was about the same to set up, but it’s easier to control and the result looks pretty decent.
(edit) On the down side it can’t be exported as a procedural material.
