Is it possible to edit or change materials of linked characters?
Yes and no. You can select your mesh and invoke the library override and click the material and then change it. But after you save the linked file and reopen it, the change will not be saved. This is a bug that is prevalent with so far animation, bone groups and now I found out material. UGH! Here is the last update I saw. Hm, i already ‘override the library’ on that linked character, but the material remains to be locked. But nevermind, if its true that it changes back next time you open the file its useless anyway. I can easily change the materials in the orignal file, no problem.
Great find! I never even noticed that Link option in the material section. This video could’ve saved me a whole day of work and frustration. Thank you for that.
