Escherville

Inspired by MC Escher’s “Waterfalls” I created this scene using an orthographic camera to recreate the optical illusion. Almost nothing is composited, 99% is right out of blender, using a couple tricks to maintain the correct shadows and occlusions.

This is brilliant! Well done!

Great, very lively and with great attention to detail!

I like art pieces where I can get lost in the details. Great job! I wish somebody will make a city builder with art style similar to this one.

Nice animation
(I found Charly :+1:)

You’re on the #featured row! :+1:

Awesome, would love to see some kind of break down.

I’m working on a breakdown-- for now you can see a timelapse, render layers, and rotational view on my instagram post:

It is very impressive, I like the cars, and how they move seamlessly. My first thought was it’s a presentation of gaming assets but a few seconds after this got me - something was “strangely weird about” construction. After reading that idea was based on the Esher arts everything was clear  The animation really empowers the vision.

I place I’d like to live in. My walks would never end.

Queue Hotel California for you can check out any time you like, but you may never leave!

Great idea and astonishing detail – particularly including the crowd of people.

Very nice work!

I find this quite mind blowing! :exploding_head:

Congratulations, this work has been nominated for the ‘Best of Blender Artists 2022’ award in the #animation category! You can vote for it here.
