EX-Newbie in Blender>>>Futuristic Town.Ask advices Final render at the page 4!!!!.

Depth of field is only used with specific camera lense types. I’m not sure which PHYSICAL types they are, but they’re usually just caused by a lense with a narrow focus length being fixed on one particular object, and things in front of and behind it are blurry. For a camera lense that could focus on a whole city skyline, you wouldn’t end up having depth of field. I dunno why, you just wouldn’t. :stuck_out_tongue: Sorry that my reasoning kinda sucks.

Here, though, a bunch of photos of cities, and almost none of them have any depth of field that I can see. The only depth of field you might have would be if a much, much closer object was in front of the scene, then it might get a little blurry, but that’s really about it.

Thanx Black Boo !
For your explaination !
I’v understand.
I’would to have a depht of field pass only for use as an alpha layer for The post production.
(focus blur, color correction, etc.)
You think it’s a bad idea ?
Thanks “Billy Boy”
I stop here for lighting.
Now, i put some advertising.

Five minutes is reasonable, but the scene’s lighting can be optimized.
Like using Spotlights for shadows(irregular buffer for sharp shadows, but I don’t think that is needed because you view the city from quite far away). The streetlights can also be done with spots or lamps, area lights can better be used on detailed zones that are recommended to have an area light. You actually don’t see the street so you don’t have to lit it very detailed. Try it with a few simple lamps and show the result, also try to optimize the scene for less time consuming frames(buffer shadows etc.).
I did a test that didn’t use raytracing(including AO) at all, it’s in my FantaCratia thread. Here’s the link to the post. The render time is short, still the results are very satisfying.

Post 147
(check them out in that order, #150 contains images, #147 contains the .blend and a short .mov with the rendered result.

Looking pretty good already…i like those lights from the buildings…

Looking good. You made some progress there, though the windows of most buildings are too big. Unless your idea of futuristic buildings is windows of 20 meters (relative to the Eiffel tower, some windows are huge ;))
No critics save that one.

herographics, your work is beautiful. You really took an artistic approach here and it works. Great job.

Yeeaaahhh !!!

Thanks everybody for comment and crits !
Thx again blackboo happy to know you like my job (young man hé hé).

Hello !

Here, some frame and one animation.

First, the animation and a small caera motion :
Look after the small smog an fog, (i used particle and mist)
The render is the render without raytracing.

Here, the render with the advertising and raytracing.
(without mist, fog and smoke).

Here, a question :

http://www.design-hero.com/blog/images/wip/bat3D33.jpg

On this frame (not already def yet), when you look on the background behind the monkey,
We can see the reflection of the sphérical texture of the city horizon doesn’t refect in raytracing of the building.
The texture of the reflection is in the render layer…so…what’s up ???
Is it possible the main parameter of my scene arn’t good ?
If it’s the problem, witch parameter i must to configure for that ?
And where are there parameter ?

I want my building horizon reflect well.
It’s the same for all my buildong…
The reflection of the cylindric texture is gooing bad now…
(i had to stretch the horizon building cylindre for make my motion cam well.)

Un big thanks again !!! :gne:
:stuck_out_tongue:  :RocknRoll: :RocknRoll:

Wait. Is your texture ztransp or raytrans? Ztrans I know for a fact does not ray reflect because it’s not technically in front of what it’s being reflected by in the z-buffer. It’s lame, I know, but there it is.

Besides that, that’s looking great. I like how you work the monkey into it, the cartoon style works really well in there.

Now, I should mention something about the camera movement. You might want to work on that in a couple places. Mainly transitions from one movement/speed to the other are a little choppy. Like when there’s the transition from slow to fast at 0:08. There’s no real lead-in/lead-out to the camera movements.

I suppose I should mention this, actually–just in case you don’t know–cause you can control the camera’s speed and movements more accurately in the IPO editor. The curves there can all be tweaked and can have their flow controlled with bezier handles and stuff.

Anyway, nice job so far. Visually it’s great.

thx for good advice Black boo !

I was bored with the town…
Now i making the space environement (before the motion cam in the town).

Here a frame (work in progress).

http://www.design-hero.com/blog/images/wip/bat3D34.jpg

Wow, thats so sweet…
Very cool city, youve got an amazing detailed style. Kinda like theme planet or something.

Looking forward t the final product.

Has Earth two other planets orbiting around it? If not, it’s physically not possible. Even the moon has gravity, else it would crash onto Earth and merge with it.
I know you want to give it a more futuristic feeling, try a space station orbiting Earth or let a space ship fly-by.

Yeah !

It’s a test of shader actually !
I put the planet in the good order after !

Anicator: Neither do cartoon monkeys listen to iPods on top of modern Paris. I don’t think it really matters WHERE the planets are. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, looking good so far.

Paris has a future?

Just kidding… It’s nice to see Paris like that

:stuck_out_tongue: you might be a newb, you are not a noob… At least you are not a total newb in 3D. Non monsieur !

I demand a spatioport !

Hé hé !

I think i am not a newbie now.
I going to have a normal level.
As my personal level as animator director and cartoonist.
I draw since i can have a pencil in my hand.
And it’s about one month i do 3D alot of hour day by day (maybe 10 by day).
Soo, now i lurn alot.

This is my job to do picture and i do only that everyday.
You can see my personal evolution if u take the first post to this one.
Or look at my blog if u don’t believe me :

I am not a liar mister !

Hé hé !

Thanks to going to save me Blackboo !
They want to kill me !

(my hero)
lol

Ok !

Stop to joking; now, a new animation render !!!

animation here !

This is going to be friggin’ awesome. That’s all.

Thx Blacboo !

I hope you’ll enjoy the final movie.
I hope it be a great small shorts.

I Love it!!

It beats me why more people haven’t said this is awesome. Seriously, watch the movie so far, folks.
