Hi
You guys should check this out:
Grasshopper is a node based NURBS parametric modeling tool.
Like the node system in Blender but instead it creates geometry.

And I thought Blender’s nodes were confusing!

Yeah, I am reluctant to install a new EXE on my system without seeing some kind of export as OBJ functionality.
How can I use this with Blender?
I reminds me a bit of Structure Synth, with the ASCII code being replaced with nodes.

Neat thing Grasshopper is! Not for Linux it is.
Seriously, I’d love to see modelling nodes for Blender, but, though I didn’t open Rhino for years, I certainly don’t miss that software.

Hi,
I just build Structure Synth in Debian Lenny 64 and seems to work well, following instructions from the main site of the app. I’ve downloaded from here Blender importer script, and works well too.
I came to this thread looking for something equivalent to grasshopper in a Free Software / Blender Context. Sure Array modifier can do the job in some cases, but i think Grasshopper is more powerful and flexible in many others. I’m looking for that because I’m diving in parametrical design. Any other hints on where to look?
Thanks,
Raimon

not that I know of at all.
Grasshopper is the only one.

Has anyone seen any movement for Blender to have this capability. THere are Materials nodes now, so the front-end UX exists. Now needs people to create a space to create and edit geometry related nodes.

Thanks for reporting, the sverchok for 2.8 is in pre-release state and that is one of the nodes that hasn’t been updated yet

Hi, I think that the BGE was easier to use for real time art but Animation Nodes is more complete. A way forward would be to to create groups of nodes which did useful functions but with meaningful names (e.g. Sphere with vertex objects pointing to centre). I don’t want to have to build these things from scratch but you need to allow for those who do to play at a deeper level.
There’s a real gap here at the moment and game engines (and AN) make the mistake of thinking that boxes containing the …
