But with Blender 3.6 and with Blender 4.0, how do I copy from one color to another, CTRL+C and CTRL+V no longer work!
This page is useless https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/3.6/addons/interface/copy_attributes.html
It works in my case.
Are you sure you haven’t brought some changes into your Blender preferences? Just hover on your color, press Ctrl+C then hover on your second color where you want to apply this one and hit Ctrl+V
Here’s the short explanation:
If that doesn’t work, you can copy the colors in other ways :
- You can copy the color code and paste it in another color
- Drag and drop the color on the target color
here I try but nothing I use Linux but it doesn’t work!
Maybe something’s wrong with your Linux instead?
UPD: Just did exactly what you and got the same.
Seems to me that the actual problem is where exactly you have copied the color from. You don’t need to open your color properties and switch to HEX tab in order to copy that code which consists of 6 symbols. Simply, hover over the background color area and press Ctrl+C, then do the same, but this time for the area to where you want to apply that color.
Read this one I’ve added above to my previous answer.
UPD: It will only work, if you open the second color area either and switch to the HEX section. I understand why it is so: because, if you click on the color area, it will open pop-up which consists of 3 tabs: RGB, HSV and HEX. When you have copied the color from the HEX tab and just did the hover over the color area and nothing’s happened is because, by default, when you open the color area, the first active tab is in there is RGB where you have to apply 3 different values, range of which, varies from 0.000 to 1.000, but it’s not 000000, thus Blender just don’t know what to do and, as a result, you started getting that error.
Watch this and you’ll understand what I mean:
To sum up:
If you have copied the color the way you did this for your first step, you MUST repeat the same steps precisely for the paste step.
Hope it helps
Have fun
I do this but it doesn’t work, I can’t even copy the HEX code but only the text strings and other things, isn’t this due to the new text changers?
No it’s not like that every time you change the table that change is also applied to the other one.
I can’t do that because it doesn’t copy the code and always says the same thing
IDK, I tried this in Blender 3.6 and it works.
Try to reset your settings to factory ones. Maybe it will help.
Otherwise, maybe you need to do something with the Linux itself. I did this under Windows 10. But, what’s interesting, if I would copy the value from pop-up and then just try to paste into other background area just by doing a hover, I’ll get the same exact error you got.
You’re trying to paste Hex into color. Either copy color and paste into color, or copy Hex and paste into Hex
Have you tried drag and drop?
You can also use eyedropper :
Guys I don’t where the problem is even the reset to factory doesn’t work for me, I will investigate and if found the problem I will report here.
Check your keymap options, maybe your initial combination of Ctrl+C/Ctrl+v has been switched to something different instead?
I never change, I’ve always used the default ones.
Based on that I can assume that the actual problem might be with the Linux.
In you video you did not select the hex code before hitting Ctrl C. Hovering over it is not enough.
To copy it first you need to select it by clicking it (it will turn blue like in my screen shot)
Gonna put my two cents to it:
It actually works in my case without even clicking on it. Hovering is quite enough
even if I select don’t work!
