How to make materials from face sets?

Hello everyone,
I want to use face sets for mark the geometry parts for ID map (because face sets easy to use, like polygroups in ZBrush).
I am planning to use next workflow:

  1. Mark geometry parts with face sets
  2. Generate materials from face sets (problem here)
  3. Bake ID map from materials

I don’t know how to generate materials from face sets.
Can someone help me with this problem?
Or, may be, exists other simple way in Blender to mark highpoly geometry for ID map?

PS: Currently, I’m using ZBrush for this purpose.

I’m not sure of there’s a more efficient way, but the slow way would be hover over face set in Sculpt mode, hit H, tab to Edit mode, create and assign a new material, back to Sculpt mode, hit H to show all face sets again… rinse and repeat.
