I need to model 3d human like characters

Hi, I want to make realistic(human like)characters in blender, but most of the courses are about how to make weird characters and I’m not sure if these courses can give me what I want, some of these courses are about making characters. They give real human but it is in sculpt mode, I don’t want my characters to be so detailed, just something close to normal human, and that I don’t want to get involved in sculpt right now, because my goal is animation and I want to make my own character models, but I don’t want to make them too detailed right now, but something close to realistic and human-like, not weird characters, so do you know of a source that can teach me what I want?

If you don’t have much knowledge or experience in modeling, start with sculpture.

Making realistic humans is hard. Somwhere in this tread:

Chris Jones mentions that he does this for some years (>10 ?) now…

That’s the reason why so many tutorials meant to attract people are more simple. And your:

is already not as easy as you think to make them…

This two “mini”–tutorials (from the same author)

show you already two different approaches:

  • one to build what you in the end do not see but have to consider and…
  • another where the “unseen” is not modeled at all but was considered.

So you have to think about at what position in “the knowledge about the structure of the human body” you are.

This is also important for the proces of animating a human figure (knowledge of the movement of…). A simple low poly figure can look good and awesome if properly animated… like so (even if exaggerated and not “realistic”):

…and a super detailed one can look ugly/uncany when animated (composed) badly somehow ( to be fair: mostly because of not enough time ( more time → more costs ) or using the cheaper and maybe less experiences animation studio/artist… but that’s another story )

So in the end you have to make it through some tutorials, maybe ask some specific questions, find the way you want it to do to be able to decide what kid of course you may even buy to make what you want.

Because there is often the question: What’s the best way to do… ? It’s always the same answer:

This will properly take you not only some hours, days but more like month and (yes !) years. Like everone else also have to.

thank You for your answer, i already have some basic knowledge about making lowpoly characters, I think I should build on it, and slowly learn more things along the way
