Jungle Retreat: A Secluded Cabin by the RiveršŸŒ²

Jungle Retreat: A Secluded Cabin by the RiveršŸŒ²

This is my latest 3D scene which is my biggest scene I have ever made!
Itā€™s Inspired by Bohemian Switzerland National Park which is located in the Czech Republic.

Modeled in Blender and SpeedTree for the trees and some of the plants.
Textured using Substance Painter and Blender.
Rendered in Blender Cycles.

Hope you enjoy it!

thank you :grinning:

This is really nice, good job! Especially since youā€™ve modeled the foliage, I always hated when I had to do foliage from scratch for studios Iā€™d be working with. So much effort for something no oneā€™s going to even analyze properly .

Iā€™d say that Iā€™m not a fan of the day-time lighting, though. The second and third images have really great lighting. The normal day-time feels a bit too flat in my eyes. Thereā€™s just some depth lacking in the background which I think would be solved with some volumetrics or a mist pass.
Also, just noticed, but it feel a bit weird not seeing the sky at all at the top or in between all the leaves.

Thanks man
I agree with you about the daylight and Iā€™ll try to do better in my future projects!

Personally, I think the day lighting is very realistic; itā€™s not as artistically interesting, sure, but realistic lighting is very often mundane

I agree itā€™s realistic and a great job all together. I just personally miss a bit of separation between the foreground and the background - as in the background gives me the impression that it sits on the same line with the stuff in front, if my wording makes any sense  .

It doesnā€™t seem to be much of a distance from the camera to those trees in the background, I guess is what Iā€™m trying to say .

Thank you for your kind words!

Great work ! Donā€™t know if you are serious when detailing your project, feels a bit ambitious to describe everything you do as super impressive xD But it is cool though. I agree with the other when they say the first one feels flat. For me the main reason is there is no volumetrics. I would say the same things for the 2 other ones but the lighting make it less noticable, but just having fog cards to differentiate the front, middle and background would do the trick for sure. Espacially behind the house, a simple fog cards would make it pop and make the silhouette clearer.
If I can go into detail, I think the front tree takes way too much space for the role its playing in the composition. It is distracting the eye and even leading it away from the main focus of the image for no reasons.
I think you did a great job on the modeling though ! ( I know iā€™m a bit harsh on the critique, but isnā€™t it the point eheheh )

Well, I appreciate you for putting some time on my work but I said ā€œmyā€ most ambitious and intricate creation yet. which is true
this is my most complex project yet.
I think you missed that ā€œmyā€ in that sentence.
although worth mentioning that Iā€™m not as good in english as I wanted to so I described my project for chatGPT then it wrote for me this description and I liked it so I used it.

I like the work, and I appreciate the effort that went into it.

I donā€™t like the description. Normally I wouldnā€™t critique that at all. But since youā€™re not a native speaker and you said itā€™s the work of ChatGPT, Iā€™ll tell you whatā€™s wrong with it, because it might be helpful to you.

For the purpose of presenting the image to peers the description brags way too much. Itā€™s a lovely little scene ā€“ but itā€™s not as superlative as the description claims. Nobody talks like this naturally; itā€™s the language of overhyped marketing. Nothing wrong with saying itā€™s your most ambitious and intricate work (that can be read as just descriptive), but calling things ā€œstunningā€ is not for the creator of a work to do, thatā€™s something only observers could legitimately say (and theyā€™d be unlikely to say it for these elements). ā€œThe scene boastsā€, ā€œIncredibly realistic waterā€ is hype as well, as is ā€œbe prepared to be amazedā€. The description sets you up for a fall, because most people here looking at the image after reading this will be instinctively looking for flaws; humans are perverse like that. :wry grin:

This type of description might be used if you were selling the work to people who donā€™t know anything about art, but are easily impressed by some art authority praising a work in superlative terms. But itā€™s out of place when showing your work to other artists.

No biggie; as I said, normally I wouldnā€™t critique it at all ā€“ but you might want to write your own descriptions for art fora; youā€™ll very likely do a better job than ChatGPT.
