Yes, indeed, just hints are enough; I don’t need or even want it spelled out; the fun is in the imagining.
Small update:
Just figured out the topology was horrid, so I am redesigning the entire thing to have less bad normals, intersecting/overlapping faces, etc. Additionally, trying to make sure everything is symmetrical this time, I try so hard, but at some point I always forget to select each side, and it all goes to hell.
Would a mirror modifier be helpful, at least in the blocking it out phase?
Sigh, the actual base mesh for this comes from my railgun on the earlier spaceship, and I don’t really feel like redoing the base mesh, and the railgun starts out as totally fine (topology-wise, and symmetry-wise), so I am redoing the adaption process, with extruding a couple faces and stuff to be more mindful of weird faces, and keeping it symmetrical.
Here is a quick work I did, for use as a decoration in sci-fi cities, from far away, any feedback is appreciated
I like it!
Maybe some red lights or a different kind of color from the abundant for aviation on top of tall buildings.
To me, it looks like an apartment building, or an office building, and those frequently have roof access. A ridge or somesuch around the edge of the roof could be a simple way to add some extra detail.
Something like this:
great concept. If it’s used from the distance then it don’t lack detail.
Just curious … why do you envision that as being anything near sci-fi? The tones?

Where … where in all of cinematic theater is it more ‘sci-fi’ than this Pyrite …
… where?
This is millenniums of years old.
Inspirational enuff?
@Minamookevlar, @G_De, @m_squared, and @NeilJamesFrarey, thank you so much for the feedback, I will try to implement the changes asap, but I don’t know when I will be able to.
Ooh, it looks really cool!
I like the sleek modelling and materials
A “greeble” city might actually be a good opportunity to dip your toe into geometry nodes – it can be relatively simple, but have enough detail to present some extra challenge.
Yeah, I was thinking that!
It has been a while, working on some photo realism projects that just brought me to a dead end, but here is a quick doodle:
Modeling done by me, photoscanned and procedural textures sourced with blenderkit
Nice! You’re improving!
What method - Subdiv?
Looks good! Could improve the trigger part, though!
Yeah, subdiv, I am enjoying the method a lot now, and @m_squared , I know, It took me the majority of the time to get the trigger looking okay, but I couldn’t quite get the scale of it right, or the trigger guard for that matter.
Another gun by me, I have worked on the trigger part of the last one, just forgot to render, but here is another one by me, made a couple weeks ago, but same deal, textures from blenderkit, this one definitely needs more work:
And some glory shots of my spaceship (all handmade textures):
With an updated sci fi house with all handmade textures:
It is subtle, but I really like the concrete texture I made with this.
