32’? I would expect it to be pricey.
Well, been modeling with the new ARM build and so far it seems pretty stable and responsive. Haven’t rendered yet as I don’t want to upset Timothy
Haha

You know what I mean when I say that.
Rendering benchmarks are great, just not the “end all be all”
Looks like day 20 this month there is an apple event, hopefully they say more of when those iMacs come. If you don’t believe me ask SIRI, hahahaha hopefully Blender runs even better when those are out
Yes! Excited about it. ![]()
Yes,
since 2019 Mac Pro rumors I carefully started to watch those keynotes
again after many abandoned years when they only showed macOS
features like Emojis, Siri, Memojis and live Fotos … but no promising
hardware.
While long time thinking ARM rumors are just the doom of macOS
in favour of iOS,
(together with disappointing Windows 10 and Linux testing)
since Apples first official ARM presentation,
I am also totally excited.
(And feel proven by my M1 Mini experience)
I am terribly worry. Is my PC crap box broken?!

Creature viewport Eevee loading time (4K):
PC crap: 8,66 sec
MBA: 7,05 sec
Creature Eevee rendering (1 frame)
PC crap first turn: 8,24 sec (WOW!)
MBA first turn: 12,40 sec
PC crap second turn: 1,89 sec
MBA second turn: 1,85 sec (YEAH!)
Holy crap! Is that little fanless laptop out pacing your desktop with Eevee playback in the viewport?
I already knew the M1 runs circles around higher-end machines with normal animation playback without Eevee, but didn’t realize it’s keeping up with Eevee enabled.
I keep saying for normal animation playback the M1 may be the top machine out there.
Yes. It is really, really sad. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, maybe I installed the wrong drivers, maybe I should install a LED backlight or maybe the weather is bad today? I am devastated.
I think animations in Blender are mainly calculated on the CPU and that little CPU ain’t no joke.
As for why it’s faster with Eevee playback… who knows.
Don’t worry at least that PC has a pretty powerful GPU and could render Cycles a lot lot faster than the M1. But how long is that advantage going to last?
I just read this:
I do think Maxon should introduce free / Indie versions of C4D and RedShift if it wants to keep up with the free or affordable Indie competitors: Blender, Houdini, Cycles, LuxCore, Octane.
If it’s a Microsoft PC (say, a Surface laptop) of course it will.
“We’re seeing some crazy results when rendering with Redshift on Mac Pro.”
With 2x dual AMD cards ?
So is Blender is they want their app to be notarized so this point doesn’t make sense.
What’s the issue with 100$? Seems fairly low for a foundation that gets 157k/month.
Apple has made some provisions so that developers can build and install their own apps, or open-source apps, on their own machines. You can do this for free. But distributing apps to other people is an entirely different question. The world is currently overflowing with scams, malware, and adware. The Notarization process allows Apple to check all Mac software for malicious content before it is ever installed. There is a small fee to access that process.
I just tried the the M1 2.93 version and I thought is was interesting that Eevee works better than on the Intel Macbook.
When I use the same scene which has a principeled volume shader in the word shader it render just black on the Intel Macbook but works nearly ok on the M1 machine.
I say nearly ok as there are some artefacts in the render from the M1 that the Windows machine does not have.
Thank you for testing it.
Isn’t Blender notarized, actually?
From everything I’ve been able to find in the tracker, it’s been signed since like 2019. Nightlies since like October 2020. I don’t know why the subject of Apple developer licenses keeps coming up in this thread.
