Thanks. I thought this wasn’t the case yet, but the last mention of it was already quite a while ago. I should have checked it first.
Signing and notarizing are two different things. Any developer can sign their binaries, notarization is the part that requires a paid developer account. Signed but not notarized binaries will still run, but they will bring up a warning.
It’s what my M1 builds did, since I’m only in the free Apple developer program.

Yeah, thanks for the clarification. It appears Apple’s notarization process for MacOS is just a standard part of signing mobile apps for the App Store. I’ve made a mobile app and distributed it through the App Store via Test Flight but didn’t go release(there would have been no easy way for Apple to “test” the app because it required 3rd party laser tag hardware).

Really impressed, fasted in CPU rendering of all the tests I did (I could test it on another machine or 2 but that has to wait till I get back into the office).
Can´t wait to see what they will do fore future CPUs and here is hoping we get blender with metal support.

The Xr_actions branch is merging into blender 0.3.0
Basic vr exploration is already implemented.
We will see on Tuesday… As the Macbook M1 Air does not bad it should be fine.
I am hoping for like 3 times the GPU and CPU cores but who knows.
More likely it will get only 2x faster GPU than the M1 and only 2-3x faster than the RTX 2080Ti in Blender viewport. But it’s still not bad for an integrated graphics using legacy API software.
Man, why you gotta tease us like that?
You all think there are new iMacs coming on Tuesday? I’m a bit skeptical since there is currently a silicon shortage, but who knows?
If Apple releases M1x (or whatever they want to call them) iMacs that can:
- use eGPU
- compete with a 16-core AMD
- Are priced in the $2k-ish range
I’m giving up my Hackintosh and buying one of these!

Nice to see there’s a Tim and a Steve taking part in this discussion. 
I know Apple uses USDZ, which is open, with their ARKit 4 API, but I’m not sure what they use if viewing through a VR headset. With the rumors of an Apple VR headset coming soon maybe we’ll get details on Tuesday or the WWDC in June.
With Apple already using a universal standard like USDZ we can hope that they’ll use a common standard for VR.
I see Apple is still going with the “cheese grater” aesthetic.
That’s a rumored design, but man oh man do I hope the new iMacs look exactly like the Pro Display XDR with ports. A high-end 32" iMac with the XDR’s screen would be so choice.
