Moth Sign

Render 6, composited. The camera angle, time of day, and setting are similar to Render 5, but this time I tried lighting the scene to suggest that the sign was several stories high instead of ground-level.

Render 4, composited (the asset now has added stains and damage to the wood material, elements that were missing in earlier renders)

Render 3, composited)

_Render 2, composited. The chains and horizontal arm of the sign were way too skinny, so after this render they got flattened up quite a bit.)

Render 1, composited (this looks a bit too unfocused and blurry to me, and I definitely overdid it with the glare)

Started working on this in early 2023, for Poly Haven’s Hidden Alley competition. Ended up putting it aside for a whole year, finally returning to the project when I had Substance Painter. Minor design modifications, a couple rounds of texturing, and various small tweaks were worked on over the course of 3 or 4 months in…I think early 2024? It’s been a while since I touched this, as the sign was (understandably) deemed a bit too vague to be of use to most people.

…all this time later, part of me is still wondering if I can recycle the elements of the metal anchor and wooden moth to create 2 new individual assets that people actually would find value in.
