Multi-user

I just wanted to report that in the console, I noticed this warning:

Thanks for the feedback !

Thanks a lot for the link !

Local area connection works well enough already.

What setup is required for internet sessions?

:warning: If you host a session over internet, special network configuration is needed. :warning:

By special configuration I mean port forwarding on your router (Your router must support static IP) or VPN.

For port forwarding, three ports need to be forwarded. For example, if you start a session on port 5555 you need to forward port 5555, 5556 and 5557.
Once the forward rules are setup, people from exterior must connect on the public router IP.

I will soon add details to the wiki for external access tips

Any (improvements) news about the addon ?

Hi !
My progress on the multi-user dev can be followed from here
But I will also post update here on new release
I currently work on two aspects:

Aside of that I try to progress on the user and dev documentation.
Feel free to add ideas, issues and suggestions on the tracker (or even here  ).

Hey I just went ahead and tried using your addon, seems awesome!

But its very laggy, are there any settings that I can change to make updates between systems more frequent or is this just the way the addon behaves (Its exactly as slow on instances connecting to the host)? Thanks

Hi @vogoriy243 !
The laggy effect come from the refresh rate, by default it is set to 1sec for but you can change it as you wish
The refresh rate is different for each data block type(objects, lights, materials,…) for optimization purposes.

You can adjust it for each type in advanced settings section of the addon before starting a session.

An incredible idea! Please continue work on this as there are so many people who would benefit from having something like this made right. This is something that will bring the 3D art world closer together!
Best wishes.

Hey, in the quick start guide it says that you will need “extra network configuration” to host a session over the internet, could you explain exactly what needs to be done and direct me to a guide? Im on Windows 10

Hi @kohora6430 and @KSTOV,

I wrote a basic hosting guide which can be accessed from here.
It’s a work in progress but it should help you to setup your network in order to share sessions over internet

Feel free to ask questions about anything in the process (and feedback’s about the guide ^^).

Hi there, do you have a discord server or somewhere where you can be reached easily?

Hi @ShmarvDogg,
Until now, you can reach me by:

  • Private Message on blenderartist or mails
  • Issues on gitlab (Best place for bugs and ideas)

But the discord server is a good idea ! (I’m gonna try to create one soon)
