here is another render. 16 and a half hours.

the change between the first and the latest pic is unbelievable. Like it very much, but, I think you should add some hair to the guy in the first " car (?)".
yes ahir would be a great addition
I like what your doing but with all that is going on in the piece, I don’t see any floor markings, like zone painting and such, if people were coming out of those rooms into an area where things are moving on rails I would think there would be something telling me not to stand past a certain point or even a marking on the floor for direction of traffic. I do like the artwork and look forward to seeing your next posting.
16 and a half hours!! that’s painful
don’t forget the vignette
there seems to be a concentration of noise here. you could add some more lighting in the areas that are behind this vehicle thing so that you don’t have to render for any longer then 16 hours…
unless that is from some loss of quality from uploading it.
The image feels wrong to me. I think that it’s because everything is too perfect and in-place. I would like to see what this would look like with some cool texures and some grunge maps.
Of course this is only my opinion, but I felt I should post this.
Update

Thank you all for your comments. I cant answer them all now because I am going out for my friends birthday party. I will be back to read and respond to your comments tomorrow
I love it
it would be perfect if you added a vignette
Andrew loves vignettes
ok… 5850 samples, 45 and a half hours later…

I will add hair to the poor bald people later and I am also planning on redoing the people. they are the weak point in my opinion
@wilmaciii That is a good idea thank you
I will be doing a little post processing to fix some fireflies, adding a vignette and all the usual colour correction stuff.
Hope you guys like it so far
BTW this is going to be the final resolution. 1080x1920
Looks really good. The only thing I dont understand is the track just dead ends. You should probably make it turn the corner. The cars only go in one direction fro m the look of them and teh direction they are travelling just dead ends, so it appears they are going nowhere.
Sorry for being a little quite guys… I decided to not work on it over the weekend because otherwise i will end up getting sick of it.
Here however is an update:

As you can see I have changed the end of the tracks to turn around. Also I changed the camera angle a little and made it a little more wide screen.
Well i just replayed the same thing on my thread, just to get here and see we are thinking the same…
Thought that starting early will be great, but just realized that I am getting slower and slower… And pause also get’s you better perspective, so good choice there
Image looks great, especially when compared to the first.
Think U should try making some bruised metal material or something like that (using proc. tex) for the wall plates.
Right now it’s too plain but adding more details would ruin it IMO.
Hi, Natholas and everybody here!
I remember your work on the Halo’s suit…
Actually I was surprised here… Why so BORING?
Sorry I had no time to entry this contest and I guess I will not make it to time if I’ll start now.
Here in the image I left my main critiques. It’s very harsh but I saw your level of modelling and I think it’s a very lazy style for your skills.
BTW - that Blender banners are placed very-very weird. If you still want to use it - find some better place. I don’t think that so hi-tech future will be so bad by the ergonomics side. Or… it can be transparent halo-banners and it must be looking really believable or you’ll still have the same problem with a head’s hit.
Add some extreme details - somebody at the window… maybe some little robots somewhere… I don’t want to live there Because it’s tooooo boring.
Sorry if I was too straight and I hope that my red-green comments&hints on the picture will help you.
@JnZ Thanks. I have already made some scratch textures in photoshop to add at some point…
@Moolah Thank you for the harsh critique. It is a bit difficult to figure out what you mean in some parts of the image.
I will ponder over what you said though… and i completely agree with everything that you pointed out.
Another update coming tomorrow or the day after. Expect some big(ish) changes
4500 samples, 11 and a half hours.

Any better? I will add hair with a blender internal render that i will composite onto this one.
ps. the blue guy that is standing in the front of the car is meant to look like a hologram (needs some more work)
its a nice subject and you have put a lot of efford to it. my critique is about detail only. couple things are distracting me since your first render.
adding more stuff to your scene didn’t change this topics. stick to your own original idea for most. improve the subjects on your scene more.
a golden rule in graphics is “LESS IS MORE”
oh and think you should use the original blender logo. make it outstanding. show the world and the future that its made with this marvelous product? who would bother that… good advertisement.
i am relieved that at least Blender exist in the future (do we doubt about that? nope LOL)
Natholas, it’s better. But still…
Blutarsky is right - too much hard edges. I advice you to make some beveling and in some places (on the car’s edges) - insets with extrude inside (like seams). It will definitely place some realism in these machines.
I don’t know why do you use some human figure in the hologram. It looks strange. What is it for? Maybe you’ll change it to some map? To some floor’s plan? Or maybe just some texts like online menus (for a restaurant or any other orders).
Maybe you’ll change this panel (in front of the passenger) with “Hysperia” to some glowing buttons. I know it’s obvious idea… But it’s like a macdonald’s MD - everywhere.
You can place some banners on the right side (over that conveyer). Without “Blender’s” things it’s really looks hollow now…
“Available” - make it brighter (orange probably) but with contrast!
If that reflecting “path” is a conveyer then place some bags there… Some robo-bags maybe It’s future.
That long border line at the edge… It looks strange. I thought you’ll add some real borders… Like in China’s metro (google some pics you’ll find how cool it looks).
http://www.railway-technology.com/projects/beijing-metro/beijing-metro4.html
(no borders on this station but anyway…)
Here is better… OK - China is super-safe So there are even glass walls on many stations of metro. But looks to those pics and you’ll find many good design decisions.
Interpolate them to your future and “whooalah”!
Looks good! A couple things I would recommend:
Work on the little ships/transports or whatever. They seem very flat and out of place in the scene. Also, try taking the color from the background (outside the window), and try to make it bleed in more. Or brighten that color lamp. In the rooms, you may want to refine some details, just because it also looks out of place. The human looks awkward as well. And are the “Available” signs supposed to be lights? Nothing seems to glow, or effect much. It seems like flat planes… Try making the hologram an almost white, with a very small amount of blue. Very small. That will make it seem like more of a lite hologram… IMO.
The composition as a whole: What am I supposed to look at, or notice? What’s the subject matter? You may want to think about that. This may be a good shot in a movie; but in a still frame, it doesn’t quite work…
What I do like, the idea of this world, Micdonalds. Parts of the outside world (though that may need some work too).
That’s my critique. Overall, good job! Keep it up, and can’t wait to see more.
Hey guys, I have been in paris this weekend and so i didnt have any time to work on it… I did however leave my pc rendering a high res version… somehow though when i came back my computer was off… so i decided to let it render for a few hours, here is the result: 855 passes, 2 and a half hours.
(click for high res)
I will get back to your posts later.
