New Blender Organizer (forget about making folders, work faster)

There was a pretty bad update for Blender on linux.

It made blender not load up what so ever. So I did

the most sensible thing and basically reinstalled it.

apt-get remove, apt-get install… etc…

What I’ve got was not the 2.79 that I used to work with

but the older 2.76 and I could not get newer system version

to be intalled.

I do have tho the folders with custom versions of blender.

When you download the .tar.tz file from Blender.org and

just extract them into a folder. There is an executable in

there. So you can use any version of Blender if you want.

So I thought… OK. Let’s make so people could choose the version

of blender that they work with in the organizer.

So I did just that

There is a new button on the top right corner. That will lead you toward

a new interface for selecting a custom blender.

Also it will automatically check for you if the Blender

is having all nesesarry components.

blender - the executable it self.

blenderplayer - the BGE executable

blender-thumbnailer.py - the system thumbnailer for blend files

If something doesn’t work please do the REPORT BUG. So I could know.

Thanks.

This program looks really useful for small animation projects, can’t wait to see it work natively on windows

NEVER… Windows dosn’t deserve my efforts… Just move to linux man.

do you plan to port it to 2.80 ?
this is so much more than just automatic folders, it should be described as pipeline tools/asset management/project tracker.
Your story editor looks dope, it could be a good alternative to ‘Causality’/Aeon Timeline for story dev.

The problem is with adoption to 2.8 files. Is that there is still some usefullness in the older soft. Let’s say the 2.74 is my editing Blender. Because it calculates audio on a frame by frame bases, not time related. Making it very good at editing to a particular beat. So I’d rather keep the files still working for the older blenders. Tho you defiantly use it on 2.8… It works just fine. Just the layout is old.

I do want to build one day a script for the Blender it self. Or set of scripts. That will run as you open the files with the organizer. To make assets and shots accessible without learning the structure of the folders.
