Novice - seeks add-ons

Ok … I had 2.79 … and some pretty cool add-ons that I was attempting to learn … and now of course I have 2.8. I lost a lot of content when my PC crashed a while back and I was using Blender rarely because of RL and difficulty navigating. Well, I love the new navigation tools … but I don’t know what older add-ons are available for 2.8 and where to find them.

There was a wonderful human creation tool that I was fascinated with …
There were 2 or three architectural creation addons that built houses and other structures with modules
and there were other ease of use add-ons that were considered the basics that new users should have.

If some kind soul could update information on this for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Idk about the human creation one, you might be referring

  • Maybe autorig?

The arquitectural ones are:

  • archimesh
  • archipack

For the very basic addons that anyone should have I think

  • Looptools
  • Align Tools
  • Oscurart Tools - I use it to distribute objects which is pretty basic imo
  • Textools - Improves tremendously UV unwraping
  • Bool Tool - Faster booleans
  • BS Modify Pivot - Modify origin easily
  • Modifier list - Improved UX on the default modifier behaviour

Other that are also basic but you may want to activate after a few days if you’re a begginer:

  • Edgeflow - Controls edge curving automatically interpolating them
  • Destructuve Extrude - Extrude like sketchup
  • QBLocker - Creates objects by dragging on the viewport
  • F2 - Fill gaps at light speed
  • Smart F Improves functionality/bahaviour of the addon above
  • Offset Edges - Extrude border edges along their normals

Others that are easy to use yet you may want if you’re more on the intermediate level:

  • Quad unwrap
  • Simple renaming panel
  • Welder
  • Simplelattice
  • Bevel after boolean
  • MEsh Align Plus
  • Easy HDR

Thank you so much, I will look into these.

The Human Creation tool is likely to be either “Make Human” which is a stand alone free product, or MB-Lab which used to be Manual Bastoni Lab until the original author stopped production and the community continued it (Info on this one here: MB-Lab Release for Blender 2.80)

Yes! MB-Lab! That is it … Thank you!
