hi, i was looking at a nice animation reel and i started recreating one of the scenes in blender.
https://www.mmmultiply.com/projects/bbc-brit/ (the second scene in the video)
and i realized the blender motion blur doesn’t make anything like that light trail, here it loses brightness along the curve and it tapers.
so is there any method you know to achieve such an effect?
thanks in advance.

Have you try changing the Motion Blur Position and/or Shutter Curve?

On my side, i will use shading node and real time bloom…
No needs of computing. Easy to real time edit. What you do is what you get.

Sorry for the laggy gif
Personally for simples motion trails i prefer use geometry tricks.

thanks for the reply, it works nicely for certain scenes but i was thinking of making a number of particles with collisions

thanks, that makes colors fade but doesn’t taper the trail
you will need to use some sort of geometry trick to get the taper.
theoretically, you might be able to do something in the compositor, but it will almost certainly be very fiddly.
