Paint Selection tool in Blender?

Is there a way to select faces of the mesh using a paint brush like in Maya or 3ds Max? Something like this here: https://youtu.be/JOzk9JNNJKk

Yes there is the default blender tool Select > Circle Select
Personally, I could never get my self to use this tool, it’s so badly designed. You can’t even navigate while in the tool.

Thankfully there’s a super functional addon Ray Cast Selection courtesy of @Darcvizer. This is the perfect paint select tool.

The modal “select circle” (selected using the icons) is fully functional and allows navigation. The shotcuted “select circle” is still bugged tho.

What’s wrong with?

What Orange describes is the old circle select tool©.
In 2.80 in edit mode you can cycle with the W key through the selection modes. One of them is select circle and this one 's great.
Hold Shift to add to the selection and Ctrl to deselect and navigation is enabled.

Thanks for your time guys, very helpful.

??? Are there two different ‘Circle Select’ tools??

It >>seems<<, and I’m currently wrestling with this so apologies to everyone, that it’s not possible to get a First/Last differentiation with the Circle Select, and that if one wants to use it you have to switch to another tool.
