My understanding is that is created by using world volume in EEVEE. I believe those god rays are a goal for development sometime down the line, through!
So its not a feature of the addon? That’s a bit discouraging. I was hoping that fog would work like volumetric light in cycles.
It likely WILL be a feature its just not implemented yet. I ofc would LOVE that feature too but hey the addon as is works wonders. For now its always possible to render out those god rays as an EEVEE pass to composite with the main render. Or just wait for Cycles. In case you don’t know the Bone Studio build on Graphicall has a bunch of features to make rendering faster in general in case you want to brute force it. E-Cycles even more so but thats paid.
Hi, do you have any development updates? Thank you and stay safe!
With the growing uncertainty of the situation we face these days, I’m starting to think that it is unfair for us to keep asking for updates. We just hope that you guys stay safe.
Would love any kind of update at all. even if it’s to say it will be delayed.
Hi @martinsh, I was working on a project and came across the need of saving different lighting conditions so I can go back and render the one my client would like more. Do you think is possible to implement a preset maker ? Like screenshot of Atmosphere setups, because that’s what I’m actually doing, either screenshots of the settings or writing those down. Thanks in advance for your time.
that is a great idea.
hey martin are you alive? Whats happening? any updates?
Another interesting sky render reference
Saw this the other day, stunning.
Lets not forget Martin is an independent developer with a very young child in the midst of a global health crisis! I am as excited as anyone but I think we gotta let dude obsess over the details and bugs on his own terms.
Yes I wanted to post that one as well, I’m curious what they actually improved upon, I mean the technical details. Looks great anyways
There was some activity by the devs of the addon - but just not here. They are probably just prioritizing client work over the addon right now, to make sure that they can get through the pandemic fine.
Perhaps are we Blender users just way to used to getting development updates every 5 days or so, which is why we find a month of silence so distressing
Hey all,
Good news - v1.2 is finished!!!
So, you’ll receive notification of the v1.2 release soon. (I am wrapping it in the .zip and updating the documentation)
As a last minute addition - Included with the package will be Macbeth ColorChecker node that I have been using to test some color accuracy cases under different weather conditions:
below are some answers I felt I should give.
-
why 1.2 took so long to finish?
1.2 was a major refactor release. I thought I had everything under control, but it became apparent that I am not a great coder. It just happened that my brother quit his job as a senior front-end developer in a large company in Italy. I got my brother onboard with me. He has a proper full-stack skill set and has a knowledge how products are created and managed. On the top of that, he is a UX specialist. He learned python in a breeze and took majority of python coding in his hands. He also had to learn Blender and Blender API to understand things underneath.
So basically the addon got rewritten from the scratch. We set up a project page and bug tracker. We had some significant testing done in order not to break itself and existing projects. For the end-user perspective this version will seem rather feature lacking, but upcoming features will be now delivered much faster because of the re-factoring process. -
so what is happening after the v1.2 release?
We are already working on v1.3. Biggest 1.3 feature - preset system that is functioning already!
The clouds are coming, I really hope that I get them done for 1.3.
P.S.
I am sorry for social inactivity past couple of weeks, and thank you for your understanding. I appreciate it a lot. Quarantine has put quite some extra load on my everyday life and I had to shift few priorities, social interaction in forums was just behind the line. Nonetheless, in the meantime me and my brother were setting up social channels, as mentioned - twitter:
my channel - https://twitter.com/_martinsh
my brothers channel: https://twitter.com/_karlisup
PhysicalAddons channel: https://twitter.com/PhysicalAddons
This sounds exciting! Looking forward to try release 1.2 and especially see those new features!
It is nice to hear that you are fine. It is great to have your brother’s help.
Smart family!!
Very happy to hear you and your family are healthy and safe! In these crazy times we live in it’s easy to think the worst when someone suddenly goes social-media-silent. The new release sounds great but I’m more happy that you’re safe.
