Reformating BSod

Introduction to Materials and Procedural Textures, by Colin Litster (Cog) finished.

Any link for upload the files, please?

Thank you!

First thing is to put them into safety.

Did you reas you pms ?

I’ll send you another one about your request.

Jean

I am so glad to see pdfs of these documents being made. Makes my whole day.

You’ve “make my day” several times already.

I’m glad i can retribute all of your wonderfull work!

I’ve made the first print test now (sould have done it before) and, as marenzelleria said (thank you alot for your BSod) white on grey background is not a good idea.:o
I think the same happens with the first version of Blender 2.3 Guide.

Changing now.

Hi MADCello,

Thankyou for producing such a valuable pdf and odt version of my BSoD documentation on materials and textures. Jean (ShiftingClouds) has passed me a zipped file with it all in. I would like to mount that on my cogfilms tutorial section if that’s OK.

Colin (Cog)

You don’t even have to ask!

I thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us.

This is my very small contribution to this wonderfull group of people. You all deverse this and alot more!

Thank you!

For who didn’t catch, in here [edit]link will be posted when issue with license get solved. Sorry.[/edit] is the first BSOD (Introduction to Materials and Procedural Textures, by Colin Litster (Cog)).

[edit]
Link will be posted when this issue with license get solved. Sorry.

The license contains errors,… now what?

"c) The name of the Copyright Holder or contributors to the OC may not be used to endorse or promote products derived from this software without specific prior written permission. "

What software?

The license was copied from that of Blender itself, hence “software”.

I just cleared it with Ton, and changed “this software” to “this work” in Section 2c. The correct license is now in the Intro to Character Animation PDF.

So MADCello, just substitute “work” for “software” in the Section 2c that Joeri pointed out and you should be good to go (barring any other errors)!

Thank you for your support!
Can i replace “software” for “work” instead?

Sorry but when I am at work I have no access to the Internet and so I’ve been a bit out of the loop.

On the home page of the Blender wiki there is that bit of news :

Wiki License Set To Open Content (June 11th, 2006)”

That to me seems clear enough.

On the same Blenderwiki, about the Licences
http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/Meta/Licenses
we find three of them :
GPL, Open Content and Blender Artistic.

The Open Content licence, the one that I suppose applies to the BSoD and the derived works like our ODTs and PDFs says this :

OpenContent License (OPL)
Version 1.0, July 14, 1998.

This document outlines the principles underlying the OpenContent (OC)
movement and may be redistributed provided it remains unaltered.
For legal purposes, this document is the license under which
OpenContent is made available for use.

The original version of this document may be found at

Terms and Conditions for Copying, Distributing, and Modifying

Items other than copying, distributing, and modifying the Content
with which this license was distributed (such as using, etc.) are
outside the scope of this license.

  1. You may copy and distribute exact replicas of the OpenContent
(OC) as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously
and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate copyright notice
and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the notices that refer to
this License and to the absence of any warranty; and give any other
recipients of the OC a copy of this License along with the OC. You may
at your option charge a fee for the media and/or handling involved in
creating a unique copy of the OC for use offline, you may at your
option offer instructional support for the OC in exchange for a fee,
or you may at your option offer warranty in exchange for a fee. You
may not charge a fee for the OC itself. You may not charge a fee
for the sole service of providing access to and/or use of the OC via
a network (e.g. the Internet), whether it be via the world wide web,
    FTP, or any other method.
  1. You may modify your copy or copies of the OpenContent or any portion
of it, thus forming works based on the Content, and distribute such
modifications or work under the terms of Section 1 above, provided that
you also meet all of these conditions:

a) You must cause the modified content to carry prominent notices
stating that you changed it, the exact nature and content of the
changes, and the date of any change.

b) You must cause any work that you distribute or publish, that in
whole or in part contains or is derived from the OC or any part
thereof, to be licensed as a whole at no charge to all third parties
under the terms of this License, unless otherwise permitted under
applicable Fair Use law.

These requirements apply to the modified work as a whole. If
identifiable sections of that work are not derived from the OC, and
can be reasonably considered independent and separate works in
themselves, then this License, and its terms, do not apply to those
sections when you distribute them as separate works. But when you
distribute the same sections as part of a whole which is a work based
on the OC, the distribution of the whole must be on the terms of this
License, whose permissions for other licensees extend to the entire
whole, and thus to each and every part regardless of who wrote it.
Exceptions are made to this requirement to release modified works
free of charge under this license only in compliance with Fair Use
law where applicable.

  1. You are not required to accept this License, since you have not
signed it. However, nothing else grants you permission to copy,
distribute or modify the OC. These actions are prohibited by law
if you do not accept this License. Therefore, by distributing or
translating the OC, or by deriving works herefrom, you indicate
your acceptance of this License to do so, and all its terms and
conditions for copying, distributing or translating the OC.

NO WARRANTY

  1. BECAUSE THE OPENCONTENT (OC) IS LICENSED FREE OF CHARGE, THERE
IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE OC, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE
LAW. EXCEPT WHEN OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS
AND/OR OTHER PARTIES PROVIDE THE OC “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF
ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED
TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK OF USE OF THE OC IS WITH YOU.
SHOULD THE OC PROVE FAULTY, INACCURATE, OR OTHERWISE UNACCEPTABLE
YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
  1. IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW OR AGREED TO IN
WRITING WILL ANY COPYRIGHT HOLDER, OR ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MAY
MIRROR AND/OR REDISTRIBUTE THE OC AS PERMITTED ABOVE, BE LIABLE
TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL
OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO
USE THE OC, EVEN IF SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED
OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

So where is the word “software” anywhere in threre?
Or any paragraph “c” ?

Jean

Jean, the license that came with PDFs was this one, but wrong version (i think)

As marenzelleria said (2 replies above) he already talk with Ton and this correction is enought.

Please, can you replace the old one for this one?

Thank you once more for your help!

p.s now was you that didn’t read pm

I know about what Ton said. Apparently he did not know that there was a correct version already available. I just wanted to point out to that correct version.

I will make the replacement and all tomorrow in the morning (here in Montreal).

Hang tough MadCello

Jean

What’s the status of conversion?

[ bump ]

More 2 are on the way.

Sorry but the Internet had hicups here yesterday.

The files for Colin’s tutorial are available on his site www.cogfilms.com. For Felipe’s follow the links on the first page of the tutorial

Have fun.

Jean

Thank you ShiftingClouds!

That tutorial in PDF looks great! ( WIKIs can be a pain to view, never mind create BSoDs with! )

Do you fancy PDF-ing another BSoD ( the Game Engine one )?

Here’s the link…

http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/BSoD/Introduction_to_the_Game_Engine

It’s writen to allow existing or beginning Blender users to quickly try out the built in Game Engine in a hands-on way.
