Roman Fortresss

update: trees and some minor details added. Now it’s time to work on the terrain, I might end up adding some others structures like fountains to give a more dynamic impression of the scene.

btw, I am open to suggestions and ideas

Ok, I think I can call it a day.

I’ll probably add more elements to the scene, but I’m pretty happy with the end result.

Thoughts?

This really looks great! One thing I noticed are the cobblestones on the floor inside the fortress. They look too regular and not adaptive to the buildings standing there. You already break it up by layering grass on top of it, but the repetitions still look through. A real layout would probably have the stones aligned to paths between the houses. Improving this would help a lot in my point of view.

yep, you are right, the problem is I had to do that in substance painter in a procedural way, so I could not tweak the rotation and the scale of the cobblestone to adjust it to the orientation of the buildings, at least individually

Maybe you can do the alignment via the UV map of the floor. Not sure how much stretching you would get in return…

I may have forgotten to post it but here’s the link to the “Finished project” post and to my artstation.
