Eyebrows are going in the right direction! Looks great!
Thanks for the advice Zokk, you are right but I want to put that element in, becauseI’m trying to achieve some visual complexity to get my model more appealing. If i wanted to have 100% plausible design I should have modeled it in a whole block to make it more solid. It’s a trade off between practical plausibility and good looking/interesting style, I think I will sacrify some realism for the sake of aesthetics (Fortunately this helmet will be never produced!)
Here is the model, i hope It won’t be too hard to integrate it with the curved surfaces…

Wow! This is a really super amazing head!
Just one thing, where did you get the skin textures :? I’ve been looking everywhere for some good ones
Here is an update of the head!
This work is supposed to be part of my demo reel. The helmet modeling is taking too long and I’m not sure of the design, i think I need more time to concept it better and plan the modeling in a more structurated way… I’m thinking to (temporarily) suspend this project and put this one as a simple character portrait in my demo reel, and start some different character (maybe full body/ cartoon style) . At this point i would like to know your opinion, is this head worth to be put in a character modeler / 3d artist demo reel? Any advice would be welcome!
I made the textures myself. The bump map is hand painted in Zbrush, in most of the cases using dam_standard in different ways for pores wrinkles and goosebumps. The colour map is hand made too, starting from photographies that I shot to myself and extracting patterns that i later used as stamp texture for the brushes.

Update, I made a tshirt in the case I decide to use it for my showreel without sci-fi equipment!

Wow! You did a pretty near job of the textures this is a really good mode! I wish I was as good as you, and could make nice clean topology
Did you make the model on ZBrush?
Thanks bonrw1, Just practice and you’ll improve for sure! The base mesh was modeled in blender, then sculpting and details were made in zbrush!
No problem!
Yep, that’s what I’m doing, every day, I make a new sculpt of a head! Just to trying and get it right!
Just one thing, if you don’ mind, would you mind posting some screenshots of the head from the side and front?
Just for a reference on the shade of the head!
Don’t worry if you don’t want to
That nose!
AHAHAHAHAH, what do you mean?
A fabric texture on the Tshirt!(Please click and see full resolution, it’s very subtle)…

Its bridge juts out to far!
Oh that’s great! thank you so much!!
Now I will have a good modeling reference!
I just have a quick question: how do you start your sculpts?
I modeled the base mesh in blender, using photo references front-side. I drew curves following the face features so i could model with polygons without looking at the photos anymore. Then adjusted the forms in Zbrush and sculpted the details at very high polygon density.
ah! Very interesting!
Any updates?
Thanks, I Just made another rendering with a slightly different light and faded the forehead hair boundary. As I said, I think I will tempoararily suspend this project, maybe I’ll do some minor tweaks to the model and the textures. Now I’m working on a quick High poly sculpt in Zbrush that I will put into my reel.
This finished product is gonna be in the gallery, I know it!
