Sega Genesis console and games

Hi!, I hope You like this model made completely in blender and remember those times when nothing was more important than reaching the next level, In my case at seventeen when I played Ghouls and ghosts on a custom coin op with a sega genesis inside I knew the genesis was a powerful beast, I was really impressed, almost as impressed as when I heard amiga´s shadow of the beast eerie music for the first time, but that ´s a story for another render!.

Damn straight. It’s not the Mega Drive, it’s the GENESIS!

HA ,HA, Yep, this is the sega genesis but that does not mean I am not working on an MD version, in fact my first sega console was an ntsc japanese MD and I was able to use cartridges from several regions, the loading slot is a bit different, anyway both consoles looked fantastic!, just compare an MD to an xbox or even a ps4, I was tempted to model an xbox series x but I realized It was the default mesh in the viewport after loading blender, Bye friend, Thank You for taking the time to reply.

That brings back memories. I sold mine since it was in bad shape. Still have my SNES although I doubt it works.

Great work George! :pinched_fingers:

The Megadrive is one of my all-time favorite consoles. I completed Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts after lots of frustrations, particularly because you need to go through the whole difficult game twice before you reach the actual end-of-game boos (the Devil himself).

My other favorite MD games are Golden Axe and Streets of Rage 2. :green_heart:

Hi Metin! Thank You! I´m very Glad You liked it. It´s really awesome to read You, I remember myself playing HOI back in the day, it was a colorful well known game, I would guess similar to bitmap brothers games.
Here commodore computers were a big deal, many of us started with a c-64 and then migrated to amiga, mainly amiga 500, I wonder if You used deluxe paint sometime, A big handshake to You friend!.

Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words, George, much appreciated. I’m honored that you remember Hoi.:+1:

My first real computer (after a couple of consoles) was a C128, then an Amiga 1000. More info can be found in The big retro computing nostalgia thread. You’re invited!

When it comes to DPaint, I practically lived in that program back in the days, haha. Used it on a daily basis for ten years, and still love it. There’s a very authentic free DPaint clone available these days: PyDPainter.

Hi Metin, Thank You!. Yeah it will be really interesting to read other´s people experiences with retro hardware, maybe in the next days I will share some of mine there. Although I live this side of the pond I enjoy Euromusic a lot, some new beat or techno similar to Allister Brimble as in project x or Chris Hülsbeck fantastic music, etc. Regarding Dpaint , ha ha ,I guess a lot of us had our heart divided beetween dpaint and our fave game of the time, being it sensi soccer or goal!. I remember waiting for my pointer to unfreeze 80 percent of the time due to the lack of memory on the amiga 500… so many memories Metin… I will give PyDpainter a go, time is scarce when one gets older. Last but not least, yep I guess all of my Amigos remember Hoi , In fact I may have still some amiga power magazine referencing the game around, I will search for it and let You know.

Loved that thing.

These days I keep it in the closet and just emulate all my games on my PC. I often feel old playing them, lol, but those are good games!

Bio-Hazard Battle, Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion, Kid Chameleon, Quack Shot, Sonic, Sonic 2, Streets of Rage, Strider, TMNT Hyperstone Heist — these kept me and my best friend going for hours as a kid. (And sometimes keep me going for a bit these days too.)

Great memories! :sob:

Hi Michael!, Great games You mention there, I remember someone asked Me while I was playing strider if it was a cartoon.
I would add to Your list Shadow dancer and shinobi games .
I guess many guys nowadays play on emulators, I play golden axe to the end every other year, talking about feeling old, hehehe, yep I guess many of us feel old sometimes but games becoming mainstream started with Us, and although now games look cool, many of them are boring as hell, in last years the only game that captured my attention was lies of P.
I guess the BLAST processing power was very real!!

Hi friends! as a matter of fact I almost got The MD2 vs Md 1 version ready, I Guess I will post it very soon, It is hard to differentiate clone versions vs original versions!
