Has anyone had any problems with installing this add-on using Linux, it doesn’t appear on the list to tick to activate.
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks

I work as a teacher in an university, and we use this script to send sketchup files to blender.
My two main requests:
Thank you!
Hi.
There was a realization (called blendup, now it is removed from the market) which was preserving ngons - the problem was that sketchup ngons are too flexible and hard to interpret, thats why this lead to imported model glitches which are hard to fix.
What’s so complicated about n-gons? N-gons are n-gons! heh…
Problem is, and I really really hate this: blender cannot have unlimited n-gon holes on n-gon faces, unlike Sketchup. And I’ve been waiting for this to finally happen for years, ever since bmesh was a thing… So… when converting a sketchup model, these will have to be figured out…
This is made on a purpose, Sketchup has different mesh engine to support that (which also support arsc in a meta way), it is suitable for limited use, for example there are not much file formats that can handle such a thing. For example, Maya supports such ngons, but they trying to avoid use it by default - for example, for booleans they switched behaviour to Blender’s soultion.
Hi guys,
I try to use the 0.23 to export blender to sketchup from 2.93.
But it just wont create a file, is there anyway you guys know how to export a camera with settings and object to sketchup?
Cheers
This Addon is an Importer.
You can try export via Blend or FBX and here is a Blend /FBX-Importer for Sketchup (not tested)
Seems not to work with MacOS BTW
Is there a sketchup importer for Blender 3.0?
I
update to support Blender 3.2
Support Sketchup 2022
Thank you.
Could you please make the importer not triangulate ngons?
It should triangulate faces with holes in them, as blender does not yet support that (Though it should!), but it would be really nice if it didn’t triangulate ngons, quads…
Does sketchup even use quads
Great work
A quad is just an ngon with four vertices. So yes, you can make quads with sketchup if you want. However, internally, there is no loop cut or subsurf based workflow integrated, but can be achieved with plugins.
Thank you @Arindam , @lauxiangjun and everyone else for this addon! It’s is the only way it seems to preserve nested group behavior and works quite well with Blender 3
I don’t seem to be able to import Sketchup’s group structure to Blender. How did you do it?
Same is happening with me. Here’s how i fixed:
In my case, This happens when i try to import any sketchup file that has tress, flowers
or something similar. ( Maybe i could say that these are components that use, lets say, a leaf and repeat it a lot of times, like an array or particles.)
Open your SKP file in sketchup (online if you dont have installed in your system), try to locate these components, and exclude them. (this sucks when your model has a lot of tress in it. another way is edit the component, and remove eveything, then close it. you wont have to exclude each copy)
Then you will be able to import the file into blender. I dont know how to explain why this works.
No Linux version?!
hi @Sildo_Neto, thanks for the info. But if you use RedHallo version converter, you are free from the hassle coz you dont need to do that which i prefer. But again thanks for the tips, thats could be usefull in some other situation.
