I am a HUGE Sonic fan. I grew up with Sonic games and to me they have always seemed so magical. I cant quite put my finger on it but there’s some kind of magic the Sonic Team puts in their games that makes each of them a beautiful gem of creativity and gameplay. Even after all these years I still cant stop playing them, and it was a tragedy that Sega went out of business. Sonic has evolved amazingly and there’s a new game coming out in November of 2006 that I think all Sonic fans need to aware of. But first, lets look at the progression of Sonic through the years…

The transformation from the beginning until now is very profound for me because ive actually seen it and played through the games. I hope other Sonic fans feel the same. Hopefully the cycle continues and we will see more wonderous Sonic worlds in the future.
oh man, you forgot one of the best games in the whole series - Sonic Rush for the DS. probably my favorite. oh and word on the street is that the XBox/PS2/3 versions of the new sonic are literally unplayable due to collision detection errors and poor camera control (something mario 64 got right over ten years ago. inexcusable). HOWEVER everyone who’s played the new WII version says it’s amazing. it’s a completely different game, in fact.
To save space/time i skipped many Sonic games, however ive never heard of Sonic Rush. I looked it up and the screenshots look pretty good. I dont have a DS though = ( Hopefully they’ll fix whatever collision problems exist with the new Sonic before the release. I cant wait! the trailer looks pretty friggen awesome!
sniff the good old sonic days… I remember first getting Sonic and Knuckles when I was in preschool… Then there was Sonic 3d blast. I continued buying sonic games (including the older ones) until I was 10 years old, I kind of grew out of it.
But man!! Looking at those screen shots makes me want to get back into it! Among the best graphics I’ve ever seen. I never thought games would make it to render quality- but then came the Xbox360 :D. Looks like they sacraficed texture resolution for modelling quality though…
ok, not to sound like a jerk here, but if that short list was in chronological order, you messed up, just a little. for one, sonic spinball was made after sonic one. it was one of those “hey, we’ve got a franchise going now, lets make a weird game that has nothing to do with the regular story sequences and try and reap a profit from it” kinda games. same goes for Dr. Robotnik’s mean bean machine (despite it’s overall cheapness, i still find that game rather enjoyable). also, sega did not technically go out of business. they just stopped making consoles. but the corporation internationally known as Sega still produces games (does anyone remember that Shinobi remake?). anyway, just thought i’d slip that in. oh, and i’m sure they’ll get that collision detection working. Sonic Team is anything but stupid. on the contrary, they’re geniuses…
Okay, so its not in perfect chronological order… chill out dude! Nothing is perfect. I mean correcting people’s mistakes is one thing but nit-picking very insignificant details is just annoying.
Yeah I loved that you could just stack on another Sonic game and the two became instantly fused. That was very innovative on Sega’s part. I wish they still made consoles…

I’ve got to say that cartridge was my favorite. Did you notice that you could plug other Sega Genesis games into it to play custom special stages? Man, I spent hours on that…
I saw the trailer and thought yes, at last a 3D Sonic game that doesn’t suck. Then, I played the demo for the xbox 360… dammit! It’s virtually uncontrollable and the camera is never in the right place to be remotely useful. I was so disappointed. But at least the demo saved me from blowing perfectly good money on the full game.
