Actually, I believe the reference photo is some sort of rose. the berries are known as rose hips and they are very high in vitamin C. judging by their development, I’d say this scene is set in late october (halloween perhaps?)
As someone who spends a lot of time in nature, I feel there is a definite benefit to solid research on any sort of plant you intend to render. Just as studying anatomy is critical for successfully modeling a human form, studying botany will really benefit any work you do on plants.
Good job on the execution of the rose hips though, I was able to identify them just from your render.
